Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

:: 3 paw taps::

Welcome back to the garden furriends!  As many of you already know, I hurt my paw sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning.  Thank you for all of your purrs.  I'm getting better and it's been raining all week long, so being in the house is not such a bad thing.

Good news is that I had a great day in the garden last Saturday so there is lots to share!

Cecilia was my big helper.  She has not shown much interest in gardening in the past...she's most been a huntress...looking for mousies and bugs and stuff.  Maybe  it's because she's growing up...about 4 years old now.  I have so much to share with her.
Cecilia decided to check out the herb garden which is still mostly asleep.
Cecilia found that the chives are starting to grow again which is one of the first signs of spring!  Mom will be thrilled because she loves being able to go out and snip a few whenever she wants them.  Good find Cecilia!!
One of the big lessons I wanted to share today is the whole thing about green "grass".  See, all of you are impressed with our green carpet...but all that's green is not grass.  Yup, it's true.  If you look closely and let your paws feel it you'll understand that our lawn in a combo of moss and grass.  Mostly moss.  Sigh.  If dad does something about it, we'll have a few grass blades with brown patches everywhere.   Moss feels wonderful under my paws so I hope he leaves it alone.
Hopefully I'll be back out in the garden by this weekend!
Leave a link and let everyone know what's going on in your garden.

We're purring for your paw Jonesie, is it going to be okay? Did they figure out what it is?

We're starting some seeds indoors, but hope to plant our kale and carrot seeds this weekend. xoxo

Great Helper, Cecilia!!
And look what you find " chives " !!! My mom love chives, she just used to see in the super market, never seen in the garden. So this is delightful to see some green pop up from the ground : )

And Jonesie, I keep purring for your paw to get to 100 % normal and thanks a lot to show your garden even your paw is not alright.

Hello and good gardening!! Yes, Spring is on its way back, but as we posted in our blog today, we were just so taken in by the sunshine and it's warmth that we had no energy to do anything, but watch/snoopervise Mom (which, btw, we did an excellent job at!). Actually, I took a nice walk around the garden and did some checking on things near the barn and in the forest and even took a nice nap in a big pile of dry grass...so, actually, it kinda does sound like I did some work...NO WONDER I'M SO EXHAUSTED!! Purrs to all of you from all of us!! Lautrec, Tiny and EllDawgo

Hey, your garden looks like it's ready to go.

It's a great idea, Jonesie. How about all the gardening kitties head to my garden and do some 'work'? Lots of beds to be dug and cleared. That lazy SS of mine is just interested in her day job and badly neglecting the garden.

Moss is lovely and soft! Maybe I should install some in my parsely pot for added comfort.

Moss also doesn't have to be mowed. We have quite a mix of grass and moss, too, but nothing looks green now.

Cecelia looks like a good recruit for the gardening work. Hope your paw gets totally better soon.

Hi Jonesie. We hope that both your paw and the weather are all improved by the weekend!

We have a lot of moss and various non-grass green stuff in the garden. It's apparently the same out in the fields and #1 was discussing with Tommy just yesterday how soft and wonderful moss feels underpaw!

Purrs,

Hi Jonesie!

Hope your paw is doing better.
You'll have to drop in and see the stinky mushroom we have had in our garden -- it's something else.
P---U!

And I think your garden is starting to look wonderful for the springtime.

We don't get to go out in our garden but Teri says our chives are coming up too and the catnip that she planted at work is got a nice little green mound growing already. We got moss too, so much that Teri dug it up and planted it inbetween the slate pavers out front, hahameow!

Jonesie, we hope your Dad leaves the wonderful, soft moss for you to walk on (we think that it has to feel like plush carpeting) and that you will be able to get out and about in the garden this weekend, too!

Pee Ess ... it is so cool that Cecilia is such a wonderful helper in the garden for you!

We're glad your paw is on the mend, Jonesie. We're purring for it to be 110% super quick.

I have to tell you something that mum and dad saw! Where we live, it is one of those new estates with lots of really landscaped gardens (not ours, hahaha!). Mum and dad were going for a run the other night when they realised a lot of the plants were FAKE! Even the grass was FAKE! Mum turned to dad and said "Jonesie would be DISGUSTED!".
