Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back to my garden!   There is lots of good stuff to eat and I'm feeling the satisfaction of feeding my family.   We have corn and beets and carrots....oh so much!  We even have extra goodies to share with the neighbors.  I am so proud.

I still try to get the others to help me but it's an uphill battle.  Ginger and Cecilia mostly like to hang out and watch me do the gardening.

As promised yesterday, here are my pinot noir grapes.  I have caught my mom sneaking bites.  She said they are delicious but I'm putting my paw down and telling her to save them for our first batch of experimental wine.  With me purring over the process, it will turn out fine.

Here is a glimpse of our fennel.   I've seen mom and dad eating it in salads.  I have no interest but as long as they are happy, I purrrr.

Dirty Boy

Did you know that our my grapes are almost ready to harvest?   I think it's cool but it's also a bit funny because my mom and dad are still trying to figure out what to do.   I mean, they've made beer before but they've never made wine.   I wonder if they'll let me stomp the grapes with my paws?

While all that is being figured out, I'm doing my part to make sure as much dirt as possible is ground into my furs.  I think it makes me look extra mancatly.

Jonesie says she'll show you the grapes up close on Thursday.

Mitten Memories- Remembering Sparkle

My good furriend and inspiration, Sparkle, has left this world.  She had been struggling with illness for awhile and we knew her time was limited.  That does not lessen the pain for her furriends or family.  We will miss her.

When I was a young whippersnapper, just dreaming about a blog, I used to sit on my Dad's computer. When he didn't have papers on the top of it, I would sit directly on the keys.  I would open up typepad on my own and type out messages.  These messages were unreadable to my humans, but this was the beginning of my creative outlet.

When my mom decided to channel my writing potential, we looked to other cat bloggers for help and inspiration.   Sparkle was amazing.  She dished advice and I learned so much from her and her blog.

Thank you Sparkle, for everything.

Happy Birthday Figaro!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!

I'm 5 whole years old now.  Mom says I'm still the baby of the family even though I'm a big boy now.

I'm still a bit of a momma's boy.

As some you may have heard, it was suspected that I was slipping out of the yard and cheating on my mom and dad with the people living in the apartments nearby.  I have been falsely accused!

I may give my family the slip, but it's only to climb trees and roll in dirt.  For my birthday my goal is to see how many leaves I can grind in my fur so I can bring the great outdoors in the house.

So, if you want to party with me...grind some dirt and leaves in your furs and let's have some fun!

Momma Ellie in the Garden on Thursday

::Meowwww::

Today I'm pawing it over to Momma Ellie to report on her garden activities.   I've given her a briefing on her duties and she's ready to go.

Rubbing on corn to make the stalks grow big and strong is not easy to do.  You have to have a lot of finesse.

Always be on the lookout for introoders.

You never know when a rascally rabbit might come along and steal a carrot or 2.

At the end of a hard day 5 minutes of work it's great to roll in the grass.

Mancat Monday

Hi there!  I don't get to post very much so when I get the chance I grab it!

Dad was working on cleaning out the workshop today so I got to snoopervise from a basket in a kennel.  Mom put it under the willow tree so I'd have lots of shade.  Still she had to move me around a lot during the day.   I thought it was pawsome!

See, I lost my outdoor privileges when I lost my hearing.   I used to love to spend my days in the garden beds, underneath the shady plants where no one could see me.  Mom would find me by listening to my loud snoring!  I'm not so good at hide and seek.   Now because I can't hear anything mom says it's not safe for me anymore.   I'll go with what she says because I know she loves me.

Now, being in a safe kennel is the only way I can go out in my yard.

It's supposed to be 100 degrees on Monday so I think I'm going to be stuck inside where it's cool.

Bennette's Update

Thank you for all of you who purred for me while I was having a REALLY un-fun week.

As you can see by my very special certificate, I was a VERY brave girl on Thursday at the vet place.  They ended up pulling 2 of my icky teeth.  They were causing me pain and I'm glad they are out of there!   I'm recovering well and I'm eating lots of food to make up for having my food so rudely taken from me Wednesday night.

My awesome boyfurriend Sylvester teleported over and filled me with niptinis. We practiced the song of our people all night long!  I was ready to sing at the top of my lungs on the car ride to the v-e-t but Dad reported that I was pretty quiet.  Maybe it was the niptini hangover...

So now I get to eat soft food for 2 weeks.  I go back for a re-check at that time and then I suppose they'll let me know if I can eat crunchies again.

I'm so happy last week is behind me and every day I feel lots better.

Bennette's Big Day

I heard that Ginger spilled the news about me going to the v-e-t place on Tuesday.  I had an ultrasound.  They were all worried that I had some serious stuff going on.   Well...this is me, after my tests.   They said I passed my ultrasound with flying colors!  Nothing obviously wrong with me.  They are now going to give me new food to see if I'm having food allergies/sensitivities.   The new stuff is duck and pea.

They looked in my mouth and found a bad tooth so on Thursday I have to go back to the v-e-t place and get a tooth pulled...and who knows what else they'll do while they're digging around in my mouth.

The worst part is that they will take away my food at 7pm Wednesday night.

That's downright barbaric!

So you think that with my announcing all my news that my mom could get some decent photos of me?

I'm taking applications for a new photographer.   Complaining about it being dark and not wanting to use a flash are not acceptable excuses!

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Hi there!  I bet you've missed me!  I have lots to tell you.

We have so much drama!

See, all the girl cats have been in a swirl...and Bennette has been throwing kitty punches and being VERY cranky....and Figaro gets ganged up on by all the little girls (Cory, Ellie and Bennette)...and it's just not fair.

And then...Grete has to run for cover when the drama starts..

Sheesh.

Here, let me demonstrate to give you an idea....

Hiss!!

Turns out that mom and dad figured out that Bennette has not been feeling well and while she is a total badass, she doesn't normally throw punches.

Mom and dad took Bennette to the vet on Friday.  As some of you may know Bennette has chronic pancreatitis.  When she got examined she was VERY painful in the area around her pancreas.  So now she is scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday.  That's today!

She goes in at 11:30am and the exam will happen in the afternoon.

Our job is to purr for her and hope it all turns out ok and there is nothing more serious going on.

I mean...she may be a badass, but I love her.
