Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! At our house, Halloween means one thing. KITTY LOCK DOWN! No one is allowed outside on Halloween because of all the ghosts and goblins and crazy people out there. Momma and I never go outside, but the other kitties do. Lock down for all. Those are the rules.

Jonesie says goodbye to October.

Madison says thank you for all the purrrs for him as we waited for his blood test results. Everything is normal! We were afraid he had hyperthyroid, but he doesn't. He's just fine, no explanation for the weight loss...maybe he's been watching The Biggest Loser?? He was given worming medicine because the vet is suspicious of parasites. He also got bland kitty food to eat. If that doesn't do it we are back to the crystal ball.

Madison and Cecilia continue to develop their relationship...

Thursday Trips

Boxes are fun! When mom brought out this box, I thought we were going to play and play! Momma and I stuffed our paws in an out of the play holes...until in one swift move, I was dumped out of the box, and Bennette was swooped in to the box and the lid was closed! Just like that!
Mom told me that Bennette and Madison had to go to the vet. Bennette because she needs to get started on her shots and Madison because he's still having some issues. Mom took pictures of their visit. Bennette weighs 7 pounds. The vet that saw her today said she is probably 6-8 years old, not 3-4 like the other vet. Of course Bennette's not talking, so we are deciding on calling her 6 years old. We really have no idea. We're expecting she won't feel so good over the next day or so while she sleeps off getting all those shots.
Madison's exam was fine, but he's been losing weight and has diarrhea. He had his *senior* blood work done. We'll be teasing him about *senior* status all week. We'll know more tomorrow. He wanted to hide in his carrier and make himself small. How do you make an almost 13 pound cat small? He used to weigh 16 pounds...that's why we're worried.

We're hoping he's OK. We've been through too much this year.

Meezer Rules- No Vermin

Ellie's rules for today: No vermin are allowed in the house.
All mousies and snakies must be removed and destroyed.
A momma's work is never done.

Tuxie Tuesday- How Bennette Got Her Name

When Bennette arrived in our yard a little over a month ago, she initially set up camp in the garden. She was hanging around for about a week before she literally pounded on the front door and meowed loudly. We opened the door to see what the fuss was about and in walked Bennette. We didn't call her Bennette at first, mostly because we didn't know who she was or what she wanted. We started calling her Ms. Got Milk because of her milk moustache. Then we started calling her G. Moo (kind of like J. Lo). We were pretty sure she was homeless, but we did the obligatory scanning for the microchip, looking for "lost cat signs", asking neighbors, checking all the lost cat postings, etc. Nothing.

The new kid on the block needed a real name.
Even though she was new to us, this little girl was amazingly familiar. Our dear guardian angel Benjamin passed away in April of this year, only 6 months after finding us. He was an absolute mess when he arrived. He camped out in the backyard for a month before he agreed to trust us. His teeth were horrible, he had an ear infection that left his left ear permanently tilted, he was not neutered and he was lonely. We did everything to get him set on the path to health. We initially thought that we'd find him a good home since Ginger just moved in 1 month before he showed up. When we got to know him we realized he was older and likely would not be around a long time. I don't know how we knew but we could tell.
Benjamin adjusted to life in the house easily. He took over my mom's lap, and we all let him do it. He had a way of just getting what he wanted in a very quiet and insistent way. Kind of like Bennette. But that isn't what connected him to her. They walk the same, they talk the same, they have the same look in their eyes so that looking into Bennette's eyes are just like looking into Benjamin's eyes. They are the same size, they have the same tail.
That's when we figured...wow, this must be Benjamin's daughter (he was not neutered until we found him afterall...).

So the naming of little G. Moo was an easy choice. She is Bennette, named after her likely papa, Benjamin. It's comforting to have her with us, even if she is a stinker sometimes. The vet thinks she is about 3-4 years old, so we're hoping she has a long and happy life with us.

Meezer Monday- Cheese Please!

I love cheese just about as much as I love anything, except of course my momma. Maybe it's because I was born near Tillamook. I love chicken too, but I can't always get it. We seem to have cheese around here all the time.

My momma loves me more than anything in the world, even more than she loves cheese.

Cory: "Look, there's cheese"!!

Ellie: "Go ahead Cory, you go first"

Ellie: "I can wait until you're done"

Cory: "Yummy"!!!!!

Ellie: "Here let me wash you, I love it when you're happy"

Cory: "The last bite's for me!"

Scary

I don't know about you, but this snake was pretty scary to me. I think I look pretty scary right back at it. I'm a brave kitty.

Formerly Feral Friday

Madison and Cecilia are continuing to figure out this whole "living together" thing. Cecilia continues to headbutt Madison, but he still doesn't know what to do about it. He's happy that one of the dog beds from the house got moved to the workshop. We're hoping that one day that Madison and Cecilia share the same big fleecy bed. Of course they could be doing it now, we just don't have proof! This bed was Cecilia's favorite from the house. It looks like Madison is just sitting here all by himself, but he's not really....Look again, closely....there she is!
Madison was a good boy and took all of his pills and pink stuff. He's all recovered from his respiratory infection! The problem is, according to Cecilia...he STILL snores! Some things never change. Meantime, Cecilia is enjoying the yard and hanging out on top of the dog house that no dog we ever knew has used.

They both go out during the day, and willingly come back in the shop at night. Ginger is beside herself happy that Cecilia is no longer tormenting her.

Thankful Thursday

Me getting the news!

Oh my! After getting over my initial shock, my whole family is very grateful that our good friends, The Real Cats, Gibbs Creek have given us this award. We are so grateful for meeting them because they are a family like ours, 7 kitties and a doggie...fostering a few others along the way now and then. Go see them if you haven't at The Real Cats.

So now the funny part. We have been asked to post this cool award on my bloggie, and then nominate 10 other kitty bloggies for the award too. Since we all believe in the demo-cattic process here, I've asked my family for their votes. While we were thinking 2 other kitties gave us the same award! Grete did the math and she says that means we have to give this to 30 kitties! I'm thinking that I haven't even been to visit that many kitties yet! So...then we thought some more about giving the award and those that we were going to give it to beat us to the punch! What's a kitty to do? We'll just go with the 10 that came to mind first. Thank you to ManxMnews and Whimpurr's Whim for beating us to the punch!

So here's the results of the family vote:

Grete votes for: Camies Kitties because they have a doggie too!

Ellie votes for: Meezer Tails because she's a meezer and Mickey because he reminds her of our Lewis and we wished he lived to be 15.

Bennette votes for: ManxMnews because she's a tuxie too. And Bennette doesn't care that they beat us to the punch.

Ginger votes for: Tabbylicious for the same reason Bennette voted for ManxMews

Jonesie and Madison got together and vote for: Gandalf and Grayson because grey cats got to stick together

Cecilia can't make up her mind...she says all kitty blogs deserve an award just like every cat deserves a good home.

And I vote (me Cory) for: Forever Foster because my momma and I lived in foster care too, William of Mass Destruction because he reminds me of Lewis and Turkey Cats, because I love turkey too!

And we cast 7 votes for Chey for President!

Thirsty Thursday

Meezer Rules: Eat Your Vegetables

Ellie says Meezer Rules for today are:

1. Get 5-7 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.
2. Lead by example
3. Vegetables taste best straight from the farmers market
4. The humans will be so happy that you are eating healthy, they won't mind you stealing their food.
5. Dressing? We don't need no stinkin' dressing...

Cory, the vegies are here...

These sure taste good...

Yum, yum....

Hey, where is everybody else? You're all welcome to share some salad with us anytime.

Toesday- Discovering My Love of Boot Socks

I was adopted in May of 2006 when I was about 7 or 8 weeks old. It was Mothers Day weekend and my new family spent the whole weekend with my Momma and me. It didn't take me long to figure out the guy with the feet was cool.

I attacked...

I pounced...

I said Grrrr....

I said hello....

I sniffed....

And I posed.

I've been in love with boot socks ever since.

Meezer Monday and 'Tocktober

My momma Ellie just found out about "Meezer Monday" and "Meezer Rules" AND 'Tocktober, so now she says I have to let her have some input. She is my momma afterall and I love her so I'm happy to share.

My momma says that all mommas need a little private quiet time in the tub. It's as important as getting 20 hours of sleep a day. She says that she has some rules she wants to share but that will wait until Wednesday.

Oh, yeah. Happy 'Tocktober to Derby and everyone. Remember to wash behind your ears or we'll do it for you!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

We're up and about, no lazy Sunday morning for me. Just a bit of hanging out by the fireplace before I get on with my day. We have an update on our next door neighbor kitty, "little grey". He's officially been adopted by our neighbors and his new name is "Remington". I think it's because he's steel grey! That makes me happy.

Look! We got close enough for a picture! If you look closely you can see he has 6 toes!

Photo Hunt: Family

MOTHER DAUGHTER WEEKEND with ELLIE and CORY

Cory: Momma, it's the weekend, what should we do?
Ellie: We could wash each other, baby girl, or help with the nice warm laundry.
Cory: Hey what's that over there? Is that Bennette getting into trouble?

Cory: What's that up there, a bug?

Ellie: Oh yes a bug! Let's chase bugs today.

Cory: Hey is that the sound of a can opening?

Ellie: Yes, let's go check it out!

Cory: Whatever we do today momma, let's do it together!

Ellie: Yes! Together!

Formerly Feral Friday

Madison sometimes forgets his feral heritage and shows us his cute big belly. He has always had a sinus condition and he snores really loud! He has been sick the last week and he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection....which means pills and pink stuff for him! As long as I don't have to take it. His snuffling got to be a bit too much, but it should be back under control soon.
He's adjusting to life with Cecilia in the workshop. Mom suspects they may be quite the happy couple since we all saw Cecilia headbutt Madison.

Take Advantage Thursday

My new sister Bennette just moved in on us 2 weeks ago. Marched right into the house like she owned the place. Not like the rest of us who hid out for a week or 2 figuring out stuff. Bennette seems to think she's entitled. Entitled to laps, entitled to canned food. This is a problem because us kitties rarely get wet food. We eat kitty kibble, gourmet, but kibble. Seems we only get wet food if someone is really really sick, you know, before they take that one way trip to the vet. Maybe we get wet food on our birthday. Anyway, our Grete dog gets wet food mixed in with her dry food every day.

Bennette doesn't think this is fair.

"Hmmm....mom's got the camera, Grete has taken off...what has she left here?"
"Don't mind if I do"....
"Never accept no as an answer" "Grete won't miss a few bites"

See? Bennette is impossible! And what's more, mom missed the shot of her up on top of the fridge looking for more goodies.

Toys-day Trouble

Oh we got trouble
Right here in River City
With a Capital T and that rhymes with C and that stands for Cory!

I've been bad. My Grete dog had her surgery 2 weeks ago. She is on house arrest and we were not supposed to play with her or make her chase us...I just couldn't help it. Now she's got a wee bit of fluid build up on her elbow. She goes in for her check up this morning. I hope she is ok because I do really love her and I want to get back to our major chasing games.

Introducing Cecilia

Before I introduce my sister Cecilia, I want to say a big thank you to all you kitties out there who have been so welcoming and wonderful to me. When I started blogging about my family I had no idea there was such a thing as the cat blogosphere. Now I've met Gandalf and Grayson who have introduced me to a whole new world. I'm looking forward to visting all of your blogs soon. I'm still learning how to build mine, and when you sleep 20 hours a day it doesn't leave much time for blogging...after washing my momma, singing to my boot sock and eating chicken if I can find it. Anyway I'm working hard on it!

My sister Cecilia came to us last January 1st. That was the day we finally got her to agree to come in the house. She was cold and alone and had been hanging out in our backyard for the holidays. She had a really bad lung thing going on. Turns out she has asthma. She's also a bit of a spooky girl. She only likes my momma. She terrorizes Ginger. She tolerates the rest of us. She won't let mom and dad pet her except at night.

She's now pretty well controlled on her asthma. Mom and dad take her on round trip visits to the vet for shots because they can't catch her to pill her.

We had such a hard time with Cecilia that we couldn't figure out what to do. We finally figured out that she might like living in the workshop with Madison. Turns out he will share his litter box if it's the right cat. So far so good! Now Ginger isn't being terrorized...I mean she is a bit of a drama queen, but that was too much.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Ginger's got the remote and she is not about to give it up. I want to watch football, but I'm sure we're stuck watching House Hunters on HGTV or cooking shows on the Food network. Maybe I can talk Ginger into watching FitTV!

Lazy

I've been working hard, trying to stop my kitty family from getting mad at me since I still haven't introduced everyone...I'm getting close...so you can hardly call me lazy!

I love a good nap as much as anyone, so I looked back and found a picture of me nursing and sleeping at the same time. I nursed until I was 5 months old, there's nothing like the sweet dreamy feeling you get nursing yourself to sleep.
