Figure it out Friday

I'm stumped. I just don't get it. Why in the world would my mom put a picture on the wall of a cartoon cat? I thought she loved me?
She said it reminded her of me, plus she liked the colors. I just don't see it. This is nothing like me at all.
What was she thinking?

It's too hot to garden today. 102, 106, 107...ugh. It's been too hot since Monday. We may "cool" to the 90's by the weekend. It's ok to do nothing every once in awhile. Consider me on vacation.
Maybe I can keep an eye on things from my shady spot in the grass.

Or maybe not. Maybe I can watch birds fly overhead.

Or maybe just take a bath.

Or maybe not. I'm officially banished from the garden until it cools down. Mom thinks it's too dangerous. I'm stuck inside with the AC.

Tabby Tuesday

Mom? I got some bad news for you. See, I've been rolling in the garden a lot. I've squished some of the pepper plants and they aren't growing so well anymore.
I couldn't help myself. They were too irresistible.

Um, and then I discovered something else. You know the red pepper plant you bought? It's green. It will not be turning red. Ever.
And the pretty yellow pepper plant you wanted? Yeah, well. You guessed it. Green.

I think someone switched up the tags at the garden center. Next year...seeds.

So are you going to break the news to Jonesie?

Mom on Monday

My mom was tagged by Fin's mom to play the following game: Either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself. Since mom is not much for math or for following rules, she will just do her own take on this.

My mom does not like appearing on my blog. She feels it belongs to me and my other fur siblings. She thinks she should be like the humans in the Peanuts comic strip. Always out of sight and when you hear them it's just "waaa waaaa waaaa". She is not afraid to admit she likes hiding behind me.Ok now, I'll turn it over to her...

Lori here...

1. I like riding bikes. I have 5 of them and I ride them all. Looking back, it appears my love of bikes goes way back. One was not enough even when I was a kid. I rode my bike everywhere until I was 15 or 16, then I pretty much stopped until a few years ago when I started riding again. I just completed my first century ride which was REALLY hard. I also row, and rowed competitively as a masters (meaning old) for many years. I have been taking a break from competing but will probably get back to it one of these days. I have my own single rowing shell which I adore.

2. I have always loved cats and since about the age pictured below, I have not been without one in my life, except for a one or 2 year period which was not much fun at all.

3. I grew up in California and moved to Oregon 30 years ago.

4. I love coffee. Black. Strong.
5. I am a morning person and love waking up before first light and watching the sun come up.

6. I can't eat gluten. I discovered this 8 years ago and I feel 1000% better. This is ok with me because my favorite food groups (cheese, steak, wine, chocolate and coffee) are still ok for me to eat.
7. I work as a training manager. I enjoy my work, but I work to live not the other way around.

Ok, enough about me. Let's get back to the cats!

Cory and I can't keep track of who has been tagged and who has not, but this is so much fun that we want all cat and dog bloggers who read this to join in and play!

Formerly Feral Friday

Hi there, Cecilia here! I wanted to thank everyone who purred for me while I was recovering from my issues with crystals. I'm feeling a whole lot better now. I'll go in to the v-e-t for a recheck in a few days. I hate going to the v-e-t, but they sure helped me out. I will likely put up a huge fuss when they take me back, but between you and me, I'm grateful for the full medical and dental program I got going here. It's a good gig and I'm not giving it up. I'm no fool, I knew I was picking a good home when I showed up here. Since everyone was so nice to me I thought I'd reveal a little tidbit about myself. Did you know that my formal name is Cecilia, but I'm usually called "CeeLee"?

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie and friends

It's a busy time in the garden. Today I want to talk about using tools and teamwork to get the job done. I can't be expected to manage the garden all by myself, and even the human staff can't do all the tasks I assign to them.
One of the best tools I have is the soil and water meter. I stick this in the ground and it tells me how wet or dry the soil is under the surface. If I were to rely on paw feel alone, I'd be wrong. The dirt looks dry on top, but I can tell by looking at this that my mom and dad just watered a whole lot and I don't need to do any more.

Next, I give assigments to my woofie Grete. She is an expert at patroling the perimeter of the yard and keeping introoders out. She listens to everything I tell her.

See how Grete uses her sense of smell to sniff out the introoders?
She is very thorough and goes in to the bushes and checks out the fence line. She leaves nothing unsniffed. Good work Grete!
All my peas are done for the season and now we are waiting for the green beans to arrive. We have eggplants that will be ready to eat next week and a few little tomatoes have made an appearance, but they are still very green.
Don't forget to visit my young friend Alfie, Garden-Cat-In-Training to see what he's up to in the garden this week!

Tabby Tuesday

Any chance I get to show off my belly floof...I take it! Misha said in his blog yesterday that he didn't think there was much of a market for plus-size cat models. Well, what do you all think? At close to 16 gorgeous pounds I think there are plenty of mancat's who wouldn't mind seeing me as a calendar cat!

Monday- Cory's Beauty Secrets

It's time I got on the computer to write about my beauty secrets. This was prompted by an award on Milo and Alfie's bloggie, and I just said I wanted to do this too, so here I go: 1. Have a sense of humor and play play play! A happy cat is a beautiful cat.

2. Sing often and loudly.

3. It helps to be born beautiful, so good genes are a part of it. I think you know what I mean if you take a look at my beautiful momma Ellie.

4. Furminate! Get those dull furs out of the way to make way for the shiny ones!

5. Eat your vegetables! I like to play with them, but I do like to eat some of them too!

6. Get a tongue bath from your momma and your woofie too! You can't rely on yourself to get to all of the hard to reach spots all on your own. Let your mom de-goober you to finish off the look!

7. Get plenty of rest, preferably burrowed into a nice fleece blankie or in a custom fit basket built for one!

That's the truth and I'm stickin' to it!

Sunday Stuff

We have had an interesting week. On Tuesday, we discovered that my sister Cecilia had bladder issues. News update from the v-e-t is that she does not have a stone, only crystals and the prescription food should help her. In the meantime mom is not too happy because the ingredients in the prescription food are not that great (meaning by-product meal...yuk)! She will be trying to work with the v-e-t to figure out a long term solution given all of our needs. Mom is worried that the fish variety Fancy Feast that she got in a pack of 36 cans has contributed to Cecilia's issues. No more fish flavors for us since the v-e-t said no more fish.
I got a happy surprise when my mom said there was a package addressed to me from The Cat Realm. I was a judge in the I Dare You All event, so I got presents! Here I am with my momma Ellie checking out the goodies!

Don't I make a cute judge?

Oh, I loved this little mousie toy! I carried it around the house!

The biggest surprise of all was Grete dog. I had no idea she was such a ham! I think she was so surprised at how many woofies and kitties wished her a happy birthday this past week, it kind of went to her head.
In other Sunday news, I still have not seen what picture my mom got framed. It was supposed to go up this weekend, but it has to wait because my mom said the kitchen wall color is all wrong and it needs to be re-painted.
