Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww:

I know I look like I'm relaxing in my garden...but don't be fooled.   I'm in an undisclosed location.  Some of you may be aware of a certain "situation" over at my furriend Katie's condo.  A certain mousie met her demise and rumor has it that I might know "something".

This photo was taken last weekend before the crime scene was discovered.

There was an "undisclosed" witness to the events.  Not that I'm admitting anything, but some of my furriends recognized me and the story leaked.  I'm not safe in my own backyard.

Anyway...before this whole mess happened, we had an awesome time in the garden with my dad and mom.  We have a beloved climbing Peace Rose.   We love it because it has a special story.  See, mom and dad rescued it from the garden center.

One day...a long time ago, mom and dad were at the local garden center.  They were in line to pay for their plants when a horrid man came up to the counter loudly complaining about the rose plant he bought from them.  He said the rose "would not bloom".  He was mean and awful to the staff and he slammed the poor rose plant in it's container onto the counter and demanded his money...which of course they gave to him quickly to get him out of there.

Sigh.  So after he left....

Of course mom and dad said...if I were a rose I wouldn't bloom for him either!  And so mom and dad...being the next in line quickly offered to rehome the unloved Peace Rose.  And so they brought it home and quickly planted it.

Wouldn't you know...this misfit Peace Rose is the most prolific bloomer!  Every year it thanks us for giving it a loving home by producing a kazillion gorgeous roses!

Well my furriends, I gotta go...hopefully the mousie mystery over at Katie and Glogirly's bloggie will be resolved soon!

Tuxie Tuesday

I love hanging out on the top of the fridge.  I sure beats being stuck in my "room".

Yeah...I'm sure you've heard all about the girl wars between me and Cecilia.  I don't like her.  She tries to hog time with Ellie...she tries to hog time on the big bed.   It's my duty to try and beat her up.

For some reason, my mom and dad think this is a bad thing.   So now...every other night I get scooped up and locked away.  Cecilia and I swap places so we never have to be around each other.  That DOES NOT prevent me and Cecilia from having paw wars under the door.

For some reason, mom and dad think this is a bad thing.

I'm not a bad cat.  I'm a good cat.  I'm just a bit naughty.  I can't help it.

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie- Society of Feline Gardeners

 ::Meowwww::

I'm guarding our nip patch today.  I think later my whole family will be diving into the nip, trying to take away the pain of losing so many of our dear furriends in the Blogosphere.  Just recently Beau, then Sammy...and one of our bestest pals Fin...and earlier this year our dear furriend Lolo and Cory's love Whitey.   So many others too.

Tomorrow morning yet another furriend leaves us for The Bridge, our beloved furriend Parker.
 We are all a bit down thinking about it.

My good pal and Society of Feline Gardeners member, Artemisia, has been missing since Monday night.  We are all purring for her safe return home.
 I was sitting with the nip when I noticed 2 little ladybugs on the leaves.  This meant a lot to me since I've been hanging out with the nip for a couple of months and these are the very first ladybugs!  I took it as a sign that my furriends will be ok.
 Artemisia will come home safely...
 But I still can't help shedding a tear.

Tuxie and Tabby Tuesday

Ginger:  Sometimes when we hang out together I cause trouble.  I mean...here all I did was wave my paw at Figaro and he ran off!!!

Figaro:  I like it better when we can just lay in the dirt together and chat like brothers.

We both agree that grinding dirt and leaves into our fur is awesome!

Happy Gotcha Day Grete!

I'm interrupting this "Mitten Monday" to put my paw down...and take over the day in my own honor!  Yes furriends, it's my 4th Gotcha Day!

Mom and dad got a little forgetful...I mean May is a busy month, with Ellie's Birthday, Cory and Ellie's Gotcha Day...it's enough partying to wear us all out!   These are the photos from my very first day at home.   I had been in the ::pound:: picked up as a stray.   I was in a concrete kennel surrounded by barking noisy dogs.  I hated it.  I wouldn't eat.

Little did I know that on May 21st, 2008, my future mom was searching Petfinder.com while she was at work.  Mom and dad were heartbroken because guardian angel woofie Colby had run off to the Bridge in March.  They were dogless...

So when mom saw my photo and read my story, she immediately called dad...she arranged to take a 1/2 day vacation and off they went.   For me!

So...anyway, they get there and there are all these woofies barking and making a fuss and jumping up and down.  There I was...good as gold sitting there quiet in my kennel.  They brought me out, talked to me...and I made my move.  Yes, I planted a little kiss on mom's face.

Worked like a charm because next thing you know their car door opened and I hopped in!!!

Thing is...the joke was on my mom and dad.  I'm not quiet.  Not at all.

This is me in my yard earlier this week.  I'm loving the life as a professional cat herder and all around good (and noisy) dog!

Mitten Monday

Lots of my furriends are asking me about my sister Cecilia.  How is she doing since she's been back home from her adventure?   She's doing well...as long as she and Bennette aren't allowed to see each other in the fur!

Cecilia is a good sister.  I don't understand why she and Bennette hate each other so much.  To handle the situation, mom has our TV room set up with all the comforts and litter box.  Each day Cecilia and Bennette trade off spending time in the room.  That way both of them get to spend plenty of time with the rest of us without having to deal with each other.  Neither one has to spend more than 24 hours at a time in the room.  The bonus for both of them is that Momma Ellie gets unlimited visiting time in the TV room.  None of the rest of us go in there.

We think mom and dad deserved this treat!

Ellie and Cory's Gotcha Day!

We woke up this morning and were terribly upset that mom seemed to have ::forgotten:: our Gotcha Day!

Ellie:  I immediately went to work, running through the house and bunnykicking my parents feet until they yelled at me to stop.  I didn't.

Finally mom read our messages from our good furriends and finally got the message.  Yes, it is our 6th anniversary of our Gotcha Day!  The most important day of the year.

We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the wonderful humans at United Paws.  They saved our lives and made sure we got the best forever home EVER!  Together!!!

::purrrrrr::

Cory in her daddy's arms at the foster home.

 Ellie checking out the travel carrier before saying her goodbyes.

I don't think we've ever written about this, but our ride home was quite the adventure.  We had to drive an hour and a half to get home and we had  never had much experience in a car.  Momma Ellie had panic attacks which meant that mom and dad had to drive slow and stop lots of times to calm her down.  When we eventually got to our new home, we were thrilled.  We immediately settled in on the couch and had a nice long nursing session.

 Below is a photo taken with Momma Ellie's favorite toy in the whole wide world "beloved snakie".  She played with this until it finally completely fell apart.  Momma still misses him.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back to my garden my furriends.  This has been a sad week in the blogosphere and with my family.  We had to say goodbye to our long time friend Beau.

We also received the sad news that my cousin kitty, Little Miss, passed away suddenly after a brief illness.  She was only 10 years old.   She lived with another kitty who is almost twice her age.  It was a shock that Little Miss was the first to cross the Rainbow Bridge.  She was a beautiful little girl.

This got me thinking a lot.  We never know how much time we have.  Some kittens never get to live to adulthood.  Some cats like our guardian angel Jonathan ::bows head in honor:: live to be in their 20's.

You have to appreciate every day.  Let your dad give your tail a little love pull.

 Flop on the ground in appreciation.
 Make a few air biscuits and expose your belly just because you can.
 Play silly games with your humans.
 And appreciate all the beautiful things in this world.

Thank you to our lovely furriends AFSS for making the lovely remembrance graphic for Little Miss.
