It's So Hard to Wait for Santa Paws

Cory:  Momma, you don't think Santa saw me pull the bow off the package...do you?

Ellie:  Of course not Cory, and if he asks, I'll tell him I did it.

That's what mommas are for.

I am Not a Snob!

I don't want much for Christmas.  My needs are few.   What I really wanted the most was for my mom to help me say hello to my furriends.

After I let it be known that I don't want much...a horrible thing happened.   My mom called me a cheese snob!  What?  Not only that...a sock snob!  I'm hurt.

How could this have happened?

Well....um, I suppose maybe if I think about it, I did kind of turn up my nose at the
Swiss cheese I was offered.   And the medium sharp cheddar too.   And the Irish cheddar as well.

I only want the limited edition extra sharp four year vintage Tillamook white cheddar.   Once you've had it you'll never go back.

And about the socks.   I've been caught only singing to my dad's wool socks.   The wool blend and fleece socks are now not good enough for me.

I'm not a kitten anymore.   I'm going for what I want in life.

What Day Is It Really?

What do you mean it isn't Boxing Day?   I'm confused.

You humans are goofy.   Why should I wait until the day after Christmas?  Shouldn't the day after Thanksgiving work too?

Bennette's Update

Hi there furriends!

Some of you already know that I've been sick.   I've been in a room all by myself so mom and dad can monitor everything about me.   What goes in...what comes out.  I feel like a science experiment.

There is good news and bad news.  The bad news is that what comes out of me is way too squirty.  Sorry for TMI, but hey, we're furriends here and I'm not holding back on you.

The other potentially bad news is that I either have the worst case ever of Irritable Bowel Syndrome or I might have intestinal lymphoma.   Mom doesn't want to put me through a biopsy if she can prevent that.   So right now I'm on medication and I'm trying new foods.

They hypoallergenic stuff didn't work so now I'm on a high fiber, low fat food which seems to be helping.   I also got a shot of B12.   So I'm not as squirty as I once was.  Again, sorry for the TMI.  You're my furriends, right?   That's part of the good news.

The other good news is that I had lost weight, but I'm now gaining it back.  I was up to a whole 7 pounds on Sunday morning!

I'm kind of liking not having to deal with the others, but it does get lonesome sometimes.  Mom and dad visit me as much as they can.

The Rescue of Charlie

Yesterday I told you I had a new family member.

Introducing Charlie!

Because he is my cousin and he doesn't have to live with me I can get all excited about him!  He's adorable and sweet and I don't have to share my cheese with him.  It's awesome.

But, Charlie has quite the rescue story.

It all started one day when my human uncle went for a long bike ride with his friends.   When they were out in the middle of nowhere...you guessed it...Charlie darted out.  They were surprised and being the amazing humans they are...they stopped.  Charlie was afraid, but when there was a bit of water and food involved, he allowed himself to be caught.

Here is a picture of the field where he was found.  There is nothing there.   No farm, no houses.  Nothing.

So then, how to get him safely out of there?   They were 17 miles from where they parked their car.  So, this little purr muffin allowed himself to be safely zipped into my uncle's cycling jersey and they rode back to the car.  He just settled in.  Whoa!

He was checked out and he was treated for fleas and stuff and now he's living the good life.

He's enjoying his new big brother.

And he's mastered the art of couch surfing.

This little boy was estimated to be 11 weeks old and we'll never know how he ended up in that field all alone.   We're just glad he's family now.

Mitten Monday

Hi furriends!  I know it's been way too long since you've heard from me.

We've had a lot going on.  Some good and some not so good.   I'll start out with the not so good.

My sister Bennette has been sick.   She has had chronic pancreatitis which was been managed OK, but lately she's been having more issues.   She is currently in our spare room by herself so mom and dad can monitor what's going in and coming out.   The going in part is fine.  She eats a lot and drinks her water, but it's the coming out part that's a little...um...loose.    We purr for her every day.

I've been stressed out by everything...and having Figaro as a pest of a brother does not help.  Mom is making sure he's behaving and I'm doing a bit better.   I stopped singing to socks for months!    But as of recently, I've been singing once again.   My mom says that my songs are better than any other music in the world.

Now for the good.   We have a new family member!  It's not what you think.  This is the best kind of new family.   He doesn't live with us!  He's my new cousin kitty and he's got one of the most amazing rescue stories I've ever heard.   Mom promised me she will share it.

Happy Birthday to Us!

It's my birthday today!   It's Gingers birthday too!   And it's my mom's birthday!

We like to celebrate together.

I know that you all heard about Ginger not getting a certificate of bravery from our V-E-T.   Since we share a birthday and I feel kinda special knowing that not EVERY CAT gets these sorts of things...and because I'm so very special and brave and such a good sister....::cough::

I'm letting Ginger have the Birthday Header this year.

It's the least I could do.

Now pass the niptinis and let's get this party started!

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Oh man, do I have stuff to tell you.   Some of it may not qualify at gossip since it's about ME!   I did not have a good week last week.

Some of you may know that I have um...::ahem::....constipation issues.   Now really, this has been no big deal for well over a year because my mom and I have this thing...we have it really dialed in with my medication and stuff.

So it was a big fat surprise to all of us when I got majorly plugged up.   It meant a visit to the vet and I had to stay there 2 whole nights.   Ugh.  But the good part is that my V-E-T moved to a brand new office.  I mean it smells new car new if you know what I mean.   And me...well I was super smelly with all my issues so I was one of the VERY first to stink up the place.

It was awesome.

The v-e-t loves me.  I'm a love bug.  I give hugs and kisses to everyone I know.  I know that I'm their favorite cat of ALL.

So when I came home I was in for a rather rude awakening.   Cecilia told me something shocking.

She said "Did you know that when Bennette had a couple of teeth removed just a short while ago, the v-e-t awarded Bennette with a Certificate of Bravery"?

What?
What about ME?  I thought I was brave.   I thought they loved me best.

This is SO NOT FAIR.

I did not get a certificate.  I got nothing.

No hugs and kisses for the v-e-t EVER!

I mean it.

Really.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back to my garden.   Sometimes gardening is not about the plants.  It's about construction and building stuff.   Me, I'm best when I have my paws in the dirt.  My daddy is the one who builds stuff.  Sometimes because he does stuff himself it takes a long time.

Take for instance our side patio.   I think he got started on it when I was 7 years old.  Since I'm  14 years old now you can do the math.   Yes, he's slow.   But doing it that way means more cat food and kitty toys for me!

Of course I'm here to snoopervise.   You can imagine how it would turn out if I wasn't making sure it's all going to plan.

Yes, it's going to be good!

I think I will sit here in the grass and watch from a distance.  Construction is boring.

Maybe I'll like it better when mom finds patio furniture. The pavers are not all that comfy.

Mitten Monday

I love Costco.

The cheese...the roasted chicken.

But most of all, I can always count on a most awesome box!

Mitten Monday

Hi there!  Did you know that my mom forgot our Blogoversary?   On September 5th, 2008, I started my blogging career because I couldn't keep my paws away from a keyboard.   And my mom forgot.

::sob::

I've had 1393 posts!!!!   I think that's kinda cool.   So that's my good news.

I need to let you all in on a little issue I've been having.

I stopped singing.  I have not composed a sock song in over a month.   Mom and dad are concerned.  I seem fine and all that...I eat, I sleep, I purrr....I play.  But no singing.

Mom just started singing to me to see if that will help.   Although she tries and she is off key...I love it when she sings.  I purr and I rub on her.  It's really quite sweet given that she has no hope of being a world class opera singer like I am.

I'm just in a creative slump.   It could be that with the warmer weather, the supply of super aromatic fleecy socks is seriously lacking.   Summer socks and sandals are just not the same.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back to my garden!   There is lots of good stuff to eat and I'm feeling the satisfaction of feeding my family.   We have corn and beets and carrots....oh so much!  We even have extra goodies to share with the neighbors.  I am so proud.

I still try to get the others to help me but it's an uphill battle.  Ginger and Cecilia mostly like to hang out and watch me do the gardening.

As promised yesterday, here are my pinot noir grapes.  I have caught my mom sneaking bites.  She said they are delicious but I'm putting my paw down and telling her to save them for our first batch of experimental wine.  With me purring over the process, it will turn out fine.

Here is a glimpse of our fennel.   I've seen mom and dad eating it in salads.  I have no interest but as long as they are happy, I purrrr.

Dirty Boy

Did you know that our my grapes are almost ready to harvest?   I think it's cool but it's also a bit funny because my mom and dad are still trying to figure out what to do.   I mean, they've made beer before but they've never made wine.   I wonder if they'll let me stomp the grapes with my paws?

While all that is being figured out, I'm doing my part to make sure as much dirt as possible is ground into my furs.  I think it makes me look extra mancatly.

Jonesie says she'll show you the grapes up close on Thursday.

Mitten Memories- Remembering Sparkle

My good furriend and inspiration, Sparkle, has left this world.  She had been struggling with illness for awhile and we knew her time was limited.  That does not lessen the pain for her furriends or family.  We will miss her.

When I was a young whippersnapper, just dreaming about a blog, I used to sit on my Dad's computer. When he didn't have papers on the top of it, I would sit directly on the keys.  I would open up typepad on my own and type out messages.  These messages were unreadable to my humans, but this was the beginning of my creative outlet.

When my mom decided to channel my writing potential, we looked to other cat bloggers for help and inspiration.   Sparkle was amazing.  She dished advice and I learned so much from her and her blog.

Thank you Sparkle, for everything.
