Thursday In The Garden With Jonesie

Dad was a bit lazy this past week.  I got impatient while he slept in the hammock and decided to garden on my own.
I found Figaro watching the corn grow.  I think he thought it was interesting.
I washed my paws and came very close to licking mom's toes.
When dad finally finished his nap, Grete and I helped him dig up some roots that were no longer needed.
I thanked Grete for helping us.  A second after this photo was taken, we actually kissed.  Grete is a good woofie!
Our cone flower started to bloom! We are very excited because we just planted them this spring.
Hope you enjoyed our time together in my garden!

There is something poetic about watching corn grow...as long as something else is doing the work, we can watch it all day!
Jonesie, we admire how you get your Dad to do work...you are quite the TaskMistress!

Hi Jonesie,

YAY! I love it when I'm ferst in the LINKY list!

I fink watching corn grow is rather a good thing to do, in a sort of philosophical, zen, meditational type of way. So praps Figar is a cat wiv some spiritual depth ~ a sort of gurudeva.

I love the flowers ~ how nice they bloomed straight away. And how cute that yoo and Grete are such good friends.

Love Alfs xx

The cone flowers are beautiful. Watching corn grow sounds restful to me. You know how to prod your Dad into working. How nice of Grete to help with the roots.

A great day in your garden! Those coneflowers have a pretty colour - like tropical fruits. Figaro seems to be helping nicely.

It sounds like although your Dad was a bit slacking, you had plenty of help in the garden. Love the coneflowers!

It's a good thing that your dad can rely on you not to abandon your gardening post, Jonesie. Do you think FIgaro saw any big developments?

Grete was a great help with those roots! You're a wonderful mentor for her as well, Jonesie. :-)

And your cone flowers look fabulous! Well done! We're sure it's your care that has made them bloom!

Great gardening skills Jonesie!! We are jealous because we don't get to go out right now...too hot, and too many pests outside. We are watching from the windows though and trying our best to keep the garden going...

It's good to know that you are PURRoactive, Jonesie, and you don't wait for anyone to start your gardening duties.

Boy, those sure were some big roots you got rid of! They must have taken up a lot of room in the garden bed.

Figaro must be easily amewsed if he likes to watch corn grow -- he could be there a while.

Lovely to see on your mommy's foot -- that really makes my day!

Hey Grete! With my VET trip and Joel's baby bean VET visit we missed your birthday! Happy happy birthday wishes. You were so great at knocking stuff over at the party Saturday night and were so nice to the kitties and other woofies I think Cory will let you blog more. Like maybe you can have a day each week just your own?

Jonesie, your garden is stunning. We are so sad this year cause the crazy mint finally choaked out our coneflowers. We are planning a whole garden revision next year so we'll get more out there.

We do 95% organic gardening (sometimes mommy has to Round Up the patio stone area and one part of the yard where poison ivy grows). Any tips on how to kill the mint plant mommy put in in 2004 and although she rips & it out in piles all year long, it is a mass of roots all over our veggie garden and is now encroaching on the butterfly garden and even into the grass!

Your cone flowers are a pretty colour and your garden is lovely. There is a field of corn behind the hedge on the other side of the road from us. We couldn't see it but mum told us it was there, then one morning when we went out, all the corn was looking over the hedge at us. Mum says it grows very fast but we think it was spying on us.

We are cat-ching up visiting, mewmie has been furry bizzy. It's been too hot here to garden much but mewms has put in some stepping stones and well, didn't get the clover planted so it looks kinda deaded but she said she will plant it anyway. Those roots look dogalicious and the purple flower like a little cat hat...
