Cory Concession Speech

My friends, we have come to the end of a short journey. The worlds cats have meowed, and they have meowed loudly. A little while ago, I had the honor of visiting Coco's blog to congratulate her.
(hissing)

Please.....

To congratulate her on being elected the next President of the Cat Blogosphere! This is a historic election, and I recognize the special significance it has for Feline-Americans and for the special pride that is ours today.

I urge all cats... I urge all cats who supported me to join me in not just congratulating Coco, but offering our next President our goodwill and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences (floofy vs. slinky) and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world (against vishus deer and evil squirrel), and leave our kittens a stronger, better blogosphere than we inherited.

I want to thank my team. My momma Ellie who supported me and was with me all the way. To my Grete dog for heading up my not-so-secret service team. To my PR team of MZ &A (you know who you are). To the Creek Cats for their loyal support. And to Chey for providing inspiration, to let us all believe that Yes Cats Can!...even if we choose not to! A special thank you to all the kitties who participated and to Misha who came up with the idea.

Thank you so much, for without all of you this would not have been possible.

Play time! I'm free to be a kitten cat once again!

Oh, my mom said that she is so proud of me that she's getting me a REALLY BIG PRESENT! I should be getting it VERY soon! I wonder what it is???

Formerly Feral Friday

Cecilia: I have been so happy since I moved out of the house and into the workshop with Madison. He is the best buddy ever. Before I never let anyone pet me, and I was unhappy all the time. Now I'm becoming more social and I have started to let my mom pet me. Yes, there is actually proof. I am allowing belly rubs! I still don't really like my picture taken, so mom had to act fast.Bojangles continues to come for his breakfast everyday. We sit and watch each other eat through the window on the door. Dad was pretty sure that he saw him walking by some houses one street over. My mom and dad went to investigate and found a family with a female kitty who looks a lot like him, but it wasn't him. Mom ordered a tag that says "if this is your cat, call....", so when they get close enough, they will put it on him. They will just have to be patient. I will continue to do what ever I can to help. All I know is that when he shows up, I get Fancy Feast. I like him!

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

Jonesie: I'm getting a bit weary of the attention Cory is getting with all this election nonsense...little whippersnapper...doesn't she know I've got real work to do? When I saw this magazine that mom picked up...all I could do is roll my eyes.

After all the snow and ice we had in December, the January garden is a mess. We lost a lot of branches off the evergreen trees in our woodsy area. You can see how small I look. We were not allowed to go back in the woods when there was snow and ice on the trees. Then the wind blew. Now I understand why we couldn't go there. Now I can get closer and inspect everything.

Looks like a job for dad. I am always willing to snoopervise.

I will do my best to make sure it's all picked up by spring. I don't need an election to tell me who rules the yard!

Workout Wednesday

I need to take time off from campaigning to get back to my day job. Personal training.

One way to get mom working really hard is by using a step. It's really great for jumping on and off. Here I demonstrate how I'm just about ready to jump off. I'll jump back on again...do it over and over again. If you do it often enough, it makes you really hungry.
Now I'll sit back and watch mom do it to make sure she's doing it right. She is watching a crazy dvd that is making her go round in circles...around the step...uh oh...I'm getting dizzy watching...

Stop! There that's better. I recommend skipping the part that makes you go round in circles. Just stay put and do the work! I'll continue to sit back and watch to make sure she got it right.

Campaign Trail Tuesday- Voters Pamphlet

Hi! Here in Oregon, we wouldn't dream of holding an election without the voters getting all the information they need to make a good decision. So in keeping with Oregon tradition, I've completed this for you, the kind voters of the Cat Blogosphere!
Cory Cat- Dual Representation of the Floofy Party and House Panther Party
Occupational Background: Personal Trainer, Singer, Cheese Eater, Sweetheart
Educational Background: I've taken a nap on some really good books. Other than that, no formal education.
Prior Governmental Experience: None
Campaign Promise: As President, I promise to do my best to bring together kitties and woofies...to reach our paws across the aisle to solve our problems. I promise to run a clean campaign...no hissing, kicking kitty litter or hacking up a hairball on anyone. I promise that I will work to bring us all together so that kitties will be judged by the content of their character, not the color or the length of their fur.
My stimulus package includes cat nip!
Now get out and vote!

Queen of the BeanBag Monday- Vote for Cat President

Ellie: I am Queen of the Bean Bag. Bennette: Yeah? Says who? Let me bitey that floofy tail of yours and we'll see...
Bennette: That was almost too easy!

So now that's decided, we still need to vote for Cat President. We totally support Cory! She is busy preparing a speech no matter what the outcome of the election. We also think any of the current candidates would do an awesome job, so get out and vote!

Click to visit the polling booth.

Pee Ess...you can go visit my sister Ginger over at Floof and Fur today!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

This is a picture looking off our deck early one morning a couple of weeks ago.Once the sun comes up, we plan on spending our Sunday sitting and looking out the window, watching birdies and squirrels. It will be awhile before the door into spring opens up.

Formerly Feral Friday

Madison: Mom put me back up on this cat tree...along with some catnip leaves. I'm beginning to appreciate it a bit more. Cecilia has been playing on it a lot. I didn't want to go outside today so I can sit inside and watch Cecilia through the window. I really like Cecilia. I wish mom would wash the window so I could see better.
Bojangles continues to show up every morning for his fancy feast breakfast. Tonight he even showed up for dinner. Cecilia and I sit inside and meow loudly because we want some too...I mean being forced to watch this invader getting the good stuff while we eat kibble is too much. Turns out mom and dad cave easily. Cecilia and I get a can first now so we won't be jealous of Mr. B. Mom is getting closer...like a couple of feet closer, but he's still very wary. Mom deserves an academy award because she's pretending that she doesn't want to pet him.

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

Jonesie: We have been very lucky to get some sunny weather. It's still very cold, but I sure love the sunshine. Mom and Dad have been a bit lazy, letting the leaves fall and doing nothing about it. They claim it's because of all the ice, snow and rain we had. Well, it's dry now...time to get with it!

Here I am snoopervising the mulching of the leaves...I don't think they are capable of doing this without me. When the contraption is running, I am far away...but the second it stops, I make sure that production is what it should be. Just because I'm not right there all the time doesn't mean I'm not in control of what's happening.

Meezer Rules -Workout Wednesday

Ellie: Here are some tips to help keep your human in shape and active.

When they are having no fun at all doing boring repetitive exercise indoors, be sure to break it up with actual play time.

I recommend introducing a soccer ball for coordination and good times. Cory: When your mom takes off her socks for yoga...the socks are fair game.
Cory: Yes...mine!
Ellie: During and following exercise, be sure to stay well hydrated. Drink lots of water!
Stay healthy and active!

Tuesday- Full of Hope

May there be peace and healing. I am hopeful that today is the beginning of something great.

I have renewed hope that Mr. Bojangles will let mom and dad get closer and closer each day. Now that our v-e-t is 99.9% sure that my Grete dog is a "fertile Myrtle", I'm hopeful we will get her through her spay surgery and she can once again play with her boyfriends. We have lots of hope around here.

Meezer Monday

Ellie: We forgot to show off our new cat scratcher that we got for Christmas! We really like it. You can sit on it, lounge on it or play on it. It even has a little toy underneath one of the curves so you can swat at it. Here I am showing how good I am. It feels good on my claws!
Some of our furriends have commented that they like our music. Mom thinks life should have a soundtrack...there is always a song to complement the day so she does her best to match a song to what we are meowing about. She changes up the music at night...a few hours before our next post, so if you are visiting us between 9pm and midnight PST, sometimes the music doesn't quite match the post...and sometimes she just forgets. Someday she will make a movie and we're betting the soundtrack will be awesome!

Socks on Sunday

What? What are my socks doing on your feet?Come here...a little closer...
That's right...
Gimme the sock...oh that tastes so good...I feel like singing...

My momma has been giving me bunny kicking lessons...can you tell?

Come back here with my sock...give it up now!

I guess I'm going to have to pull it off myself!

Saturday Surprises

Gilda Radner said "It's always something". Well with Grete, that's the way it is. This is a picture of Grete on her Gotcha Day back in May. She came to us with all the hope of a happy forever life with us...which is all still true (don't worry!).

It's just that with my Grete dog, it really is always something. She came to us with a sketchy history...from the pound...former owner was forced to give her up, then she was found running loose, they were pretty sure she was spayed...initial exam from our dr. showed that her hips were fine.

Yes, it's true her hips are fine. It was her elbows that were messed up. She is now on the verge of a full recovery after 2 surgeries and lots of patience on her part. It was also hard on me because I wanted to chase her, but I couldn't. She is just about ready for the full release to the dog park....and then....

Why is Grete licking herself so much? Why is Grete marking everything on her walkies...why...uh oh...why does our spayed Grete appear to be in heat?

A trip to the vet didn't make things easier on mom and dad. They found what they "think" is a spay scar. They ran a hormone test...normal. The dr. is trying to chase down whatever sketchy records they can get from her past life.

Anyway...she can't go back to the dog park for sure right now. The mystery will be resolved, but mom and dad need to know if she just isn't spayed, or if it was an incomplete spay...2 different things according to the doctor (didn't Ayla just go through this sort of thing?).

So Grete continues to keep things interesting around here...just when we thought us kitties were getting all the attention.

Formerly Feral Friday

Cecilia: I'm so glad it stopped snowing and raining so I could get a bit of time outside. I was getting cabin fever! I've been doing my best to help my mom sweet talk Bojangles. I like him. Here he is slinking away after getting something to eat. It's still cold, so after I check out the yard, I curl up inside my basket on the deck. It used to be Madison's basket but I kind of took it over.I think it's time for mom to go basket shopping again...I'm guessing I'll get the new one, but I think it's up to me to pick, right?

Those of us who have come to our house as strays...I mean choosy selectors of real estate...get to maintain our outdoor privileges. Cory and her momma Ellie were adopted from a foster home...they don't know the lay of the land like we do, so they have to stay inside or be supervised.

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

Jonesie: Hey mom, I know it's only January but you got to get busy. Mom? What does a girl have to do to get some attention around here? Oh yes, I can help out Cory with another translation:

Mom's leg= Scratching post
Yes, that worked! Hey mom, this green house is a bit of a mess...if we are going to start seeds sometime in the next century I think you got to clear it out of last years junk.

A cat's work is never done.....

Meezer Rules -Workout Wednesday

There has been a lot of talk lately about our humans putting themselves on the "to do" list. We take that seriously and my momma and I do our best to be as helpful as possible. So Meezer rule for today is: Make sure your humans take care of themselves. What is it that Jillian on the Biggest Loser says? Unless you hack up a hairball or pass out...keep moving! Both my momma and I share personal training duties for our mom. We're going to share some of our tips for a healthy and fit New Year. Here my momma demonstrates the use of the BOSU for core strength. It helps my momma hold her tail nice and high. She also likes the way the color matches her eyes. This also helps my mom stay nice and strong and balanced.
I always advise the use of light weights while using the BOSU. I also like the way the ends of the weights match my fur. In a pinch, both my momma and I can substitute for an 8 pound weight. We don't mind being bench pressed, but we do appreciate a kiss on the way down. For heavy lifting we recommend Ginger...uh did I say that?

Tuxie Tuesday- In My Dreams

Bennette: I'm beginning to think there may be a future for me as an Olympic diver. See how I have the tuck position perfected? My toe point still needs some work, but I have until 2012 to figure it out. I can hardly wait to get to London. What? You mean I have to actually get wet? Over and over again? Can I dive into a soft pile of catnip? Do I get fish and chips when the competition is over?
