Farewell Ginger

Hey there!  This is the last time you'll be getting the scoop from me.  Some of you may have already heard that I burned my candle down to the nubbins and I've run off to the Rainbow Bridge.   Since you know I like to dish all the dirt, I'll fill you in on exactly what happened to me.  But first I want to reflect on my time here with my family.  This picture above and below is shortly after I arrived here in September of 2007.

I was found in Jonesies garden, under one of the fruit trees.  I was trying to act casual and cool, but truth is I was starving.   I had been abandoned and I was clueless as to how to feed myself.   Mom and dad took me inside and gave me some food and I inhaled it!   I mean, so fast that mom had to take the food away since she thought I'd pop!   She promised I would get regular meals always and I believed her.   She was nice that way.

Well, they hauled me off to the v-e-t place to get checked out and the v-e-t that saw me declared me a healthy spayed female.  (clue...this becomes more interesting later on in my story).   Mom and dad did not care about my gender identity, just that I was a healthy kitty.  I didn't care either as long as I was getting 6 squares a day!   Because I was a bit furry back there in my nether regions, mom didn't question.

Mom was kind of funny and she tried naming me Frances.   I know...seriously.   I hated it and glared at her.   She got the message.  Still wondering what to call me, Mom and Dad went to the store and they bought gingersnap cookies.  As she pulled the cookies out of the bag she told me they were gingersnaps.   I perked up!  Gingersnaps she repeated.  I was really into it.  I don't know how many times she said it but finally she got around to just repeating Ginger.  I loved it!  So that is how I got my name.   I was smart enough to pick it myself.

My life here has been awesome.  The nip grows like crazy and I could always get my fill.

And whatever I wanted, I had it.  Turn on the water for me?  Yup.  I also had great fur siblings and the best furriends a cat could have with Madison and Cecilia.

So now to my surprise reveal.  Most of my longtime friends remember, but if you are new here, I have quite the story, link posted here and my follow up post.   My health issues started up in 2011.  As a part of my evaluation, I saw a new and very smartypants v-e-t.   She checked me out...and really looked at my nether regions and then she called my mom.  Are you sitting down?  Yes.  Why? (figuring I might have a dread disease).  Then...Ginger is a boy. What?  Hysterical laughter followed at my expense.  I mean...I always knew it!

However, this was serious stuff and the beginning of my health problems.   I had megacolon, which was later complicated by kidney disease.  Oh yeah and in my last year or so I started having seizures (you may remember me complaining of having aliens in my cute brains) and I also had neuropathy so my hind legs didn't work so well.   I was a mess.  A cute mess, but a mess.  Mom did everything she could to care for me.  Daily medications, watching me to figure out what was going in and coming out.  You know...but mom always said I was so sweet about everything.  It's true.  I knew that she was trying to help me.

Even in the end when my pooper just stopped working.  I purred at the v-e-t place and let them do whatever they needed to do to help me.

Unfortunately, I couldn't stay any longer.   Both my mom and dad were with me as my favorite v-e-t person assisted.   I left this world exactly how Madison and Bennette left.  Sitting on my mom's lap, being told I was loved. Getting petted by Mom and Dad until I realized I wasn't there any more.

So how is it at The Bridge?   I'm no longer sick and I'm young again.  So many of my blogging furriends are here along with my fur siblings that I haven't seen since they transitioned.
I also hear there is an opening for a gossip columnist for The  Bridge Gazette!  I'm going to apply!

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday- Alien Invasion

Have I got news to share!  I know you haven't heard from me in long time...but wow!   I had a scary time of it in the past few days.

I know it's hard to believe, but aliens invaded my brains!   I freaked out.

Mom thought I was having a seizure.  My head was all in a funny position, I was scared!   When mom scooped me up to put me in the carrier thingie to take me to the emergency vet place....I lost it!   I pooped EVERYWHERE.

And then mom got a different carrier and I pooped in that one too!

So when I got to the v-e-t place they looked in my ears to look inside my brains to see if they could see the aliens.    All I know is that I stopped being so scared...the vet said that he could give me some anti-alien juice and hopefully they will go away and find another planet to invade.

They even gave me a butt bath which I rather enjoyed.

I'm so cute you can see why the aliens invaded me.

***A note from the mom***

Ginger was all freaked because he thought he had aliens in his head.   I really thought he might be having a seizure he was so dramatic about it.   After examination at the emergency vet he was diagnosed with a mild ear infection.   He seems to be more comforted when I call his antibiotics "anti-alien juice".

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Oh man, do I have stuff to tell you.   Some of it may not qualify at gossip since it's about ME!   I did not have a good week last week.

Some of you may know that I have um...::ahem::....constipation issues.   Now really, this has been no big deal for well over a year because my mom and I have this thing...we have it really dialed in with my medication and stuff.

So it was a big fat surprise to all of us when I got majorly plugged up.   It meant a visit to the vet and I had to stay there 2 whole nights.   Ugh.  But the good part is that my V-E-T moved to a brand new office.  I mean it smells new car new if you know what I mean.   And me...well I was super smelly with all my issues so I was one of the VERY first to stink up the place.

It was awesome.

The v-e-t loves me.  I'm a love bug.  I give hugs and kisses to everyone I know.  I know that I'm their favorite cat of ALL.

So when I came home I was in for a rather rude awakening.   Cecilia told me something shocking.

She said "Did you know that when Bennette had a couple of teeth removed just a short while ago, the v-e-t awarded Bennette with a Certificate of Bravery"?

What?
What about ME?  I thought I was brave.   I thought they loved me best.

This is SO NOT FAIR.

I did not get a certificate.  I got nothing.

No hugs and kisses for the v-e-t EVER!

I mean it.

Really.

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Hi there!  I bet you've missed me!  I have lots to tell you.

We have so much drama!

See, all the girl cats have been in a swirl...and Bennette has been throwing kitty punches and being VERY cranky....and Figaro gets ganged up on by all the little girls (Cory, Ellie and Bennette)...and it's just not fair.

And then...Grete has to run for cover when the drama starts..

Sheesh.

Here, let me demonstrate to give you an idea....

Hiss!!

Turns out that mom and dad figured out that Bennette has not been feeling well and while she is a total badass, she doesn't normally throw punches.

Mom and dad took Bennette to the vet on Friday.  As some of you may know Bennette has chronic pancreatitis.  When she got examined she was VERY painful in the area around her pancreas.  So now she is scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday.  That's today!

She goes in at 11:30am and the exam will happen in the afternoon.

Our job is to purr for her and hope it all turns out ok and there is nothing more serious going on.

I mean...she may be a badass, but I love her.

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Since you saw Figaro's post yesterday, it's no secret about his...you know...shave.

Thing is, I can't tattle to you about it.  You already got the scoop.   But, the Figster seems blissfully unaware.

Let me get a closer look.   Wow.

Dude!  Your butt is shaved!

What?????

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

When Jonesie started complaining about her corn getting all eaten up...

Who ya' gonna call?....."Ghost....um I mean Corn Busters"!

I've been assigned the job of figuring it all out and then blabbing about my findings.   At least I'm good at part of my mission.

So...Dad and I got together and put up critter cam...and you know what?  Ever since the camera went up...no activity.  The corn has been left alone.

Do you think we have a camera shy thief?   Stay tuned....Dad moved the camera back to it's original location so we'll see what happens.

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Now that Jonesie is back home, are you going to spill it about how we did next to nothing in the garden?  I mean we did our part to look cute and stuff...but whoa, there is lots of work to do.

We didn't do it.

That's ok Ginger, I'll tell her.

It's ok, I already know...I've been looking out the window.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday at the Vet with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

How am I supposed to garden from here?  Far from  home, stuck in a vet's office.  Here I am getting checked in.  For some reason the v-e-t person doesn't understand my need to put my paws in the dirt.

I got my treatment on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday I got one phone call home.  My mom and dad were informed that I was settling in well and that I am eating.  I'm scheduled to come home on Friday.   I've learned that the rules here are similar to jail.  Just one phone call a day.

Sigh.

Meanwhile back in the garden.....
Um...now what did Jonesie say?   We can't poop in the garden that we pee in?  Was that it?
No!  I think she said don't eat the baby nip until she gets home...
Why can't we remember the details?

I think I'm supposed to patrol.  For what I have no idea.   I just  want to go next door and be a pest.

I'm pretty certain that Jonesie said to stop and smell the flowers.  Oh wait, there are no flowers right now.   I'm so confused.

Oh this does not look good.  I may have to take matters into my own paws...boys...Jonesie is gonna be hissed off at our incompetence.

Working Wednesday

Now...remember Grete...you  need to keep everyone in line.  I've given specific instructions on how to manage the garden...and as a...expert cat herder, you are the purrfect one for the job.

Ginger...Figaro...you need to work with dad to make sure the fallen branches get picked up.

Sniffing them does not help!

Introoder Tuesday

We got introoders in our yard!!!!   They come when we are asleep and snug in our beds.  They are ungrateful...sniffing at the water bowl and not taking a drink.   Don't they know that my dad puts clean water in it every day just in case they are thirsty?

If they think I'm gonna share my food...they are WRONG!!!

Look at this one with his spots.    No mom he is not cuter than me...

This orange one thinks he's all that...can't you tell?

And this guy...we've seen him before.   I think mom caught him on camera in the middle of the day...in mid-flight as he ran from the yard.  The least he can do is smile for the camera.

Mom said that I need to be nice because...um...this is how I ended up in my home.  I was discovered starving not too far from where this water bowl is located.

Oh all right.  I'll share.
