Black Friday

It's early in the morning.  Mom...what do you mean the stores are already open?  I'm just waking up...what's up?

Black Friday?  It has nothing to do with Black Cats like me?

Something must be done about this!

I say we black cats join forces to put a stop to mindless spending of money on things that people don't need and turn this day into a day to celebrate black cats.  Turn it into a day to adopt black cats!

Did you know that black cats are less likely to be adopted than cats of other fur colors?  That we sit in shelters and foster homes longer?  Did you know that when all my Siamese fur siblings got adopted in a nanosecond...as well as my momma...no one had inquired about adopting precious little me?

So today.  I beg you.  Hug a black cat.  Kiss a black cat.  Give treats to a black cat.  Write a song about a black cat.  But most important, adopt a black cat.

Nigel and I thank you.

We think that's a great post, Cory.

We also think mind-full shopping for cat condos, treats and toys is a pretty good idea. Maybe your closet pet supply store has a sale on too? :-P

Cory, I'm with you!! Let's turn Black Friday into Adopt a Black Cat Friday!!

We did read something on Facebook the other day that some shelters are doing this...today is Black Cat Friday and when you adopt a black cat they will either waive the adoption fee or it is less. What a great idea! I hope lots of black cats get adopted today!!

Aren't black cats GOOD luck in the UK? My human heard that at the CWA conference last week - that it's only the U.S. that has it wrong about black cats.

We agree that something should be done! Samson wants to know if you'd like to hug and kiss a 'mostly' black cat?

I absolutely love all black cats, but strangely I don't have one...yet LOL! I don't know why people have this strange attitude, I think black cats look like beautiful, sleek panthers!!! I think you have a great idea Cory to change Black Friday :-)

All three of my black cats and I agree with you! My local shelter celebrated Black Friday by having free adoption (with approved application of course) for all black cats OR black dogs. If the cat/dog was 1/2 black, the regular fee was reduced by half. Some black meant 25% reduction. I thought this was a PAWsome idea! It would be great if all shelters could do that!

Black cats are so very special! I think that's why they named a famous shopping day that way!

We have learned general shopping rules here. Shop at the grocery store the day after Thanksgiving. Shop at the DIY stores during local College and NFL football games. Other than that, Walmart is least crowded Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am. Visit the meat place at 2 pm Tues-Thurs after the deli lunch crowd is gone.

MOL!

Black cats and black dogs have a horrible time finding homes. Our momma says that one of the bestest dogs she ever loved was black and that Forrest, our black brofur is a real lover and snuggler. Momma said that the next dog or cat she adopts is going to be black and that it will be an adult because they have a hard time, too.

I'm sorry that my comment is so late, but I am just now catching up on your blog and wanted to tell you something! The SPCA in my town did a big promotion on Black Friday, encouraging people to adopt black cats and dogs. I think they were pretty successful - it was 6 or 7 black dogs and 1 black cat that got adopted. I thought it was a wonderful idea, and I hope it catches on!
