Toothless Tuesday

Today I have to go in to the V-E-T.  My teeth are not so good, or so they say.  I have to go in for dental work.  They already stole some blood from me and they say it looks pretty good for a 14 year old.  I could have told them that.  They didn't really have to take it.  Anyway...they are not so sure I will have many if any teeth left once they are done with me.  Mom say this is ok, I won't starve and I can still eat if I don't have many teeth.   Mom is just worried because I have to go "under"...whatever that means.   Does that mean I'm going to visit Fui and Suey and Ronny?  Can I visit MoMo too?

Is that true?  All I really care is that my Cecilia still loves me.

Pee Ess:  I weighed in at 17.4 pounds!

Awww, I hope all goes well and that you aren't frightened. Vet hospitals can be intimidating places, and we know you will be happy to get home.

Goodness, you are a big boy. We will be thinking of you at the v-e-t. Our mom said she had a cat with no teeth once that did indeed eat just fine, including kibble.

I had no idea that you were 14! I also didn't know that you were such a big boy. Snowball will be 16 in September. She started losing teeth last year. I hope everything goes great at the V-E-T!

Sadly, no, going under does not mean you get to go anywhere near where Fuey, Suey, Ronny or even Momo live. What it means is that we're all keeping our paws crossed that everything goes well with your vet appointment tomorrow! If they test you before they put you under, you should be okay.

We are sending big purrs to you today, Madison!

Our Mom had a cat when she was young that lost all his teeth too. She said he still ate all his food like nothing had changed! (even dry food!)

Lots of purrs for you, Madison! No worries, you're mom is right, you won't starve even if you lose most of your teeth. Nicki had 8 out last November (and he was just 3), Derry just had 9 out at the beginning of June (not quite 3 years old). In fact, Derry lost all his lower chewing teeth--molars and pre-molars--and once his gums healed (within a couple of weeks), he was back to eating his small bit of daily kibble without problem. (Mostly canned, but he likes his crunchies, so he and Nicki get a small bit.)

So paws crossed all goes well and that you don't need as many extractions as anticipated.

p.s. when you are down under, come visit me too!

We're sending you many many purrs, Madison! And we're sending purrs to your mom also - our mom gets nervous when we have to "go under" too. (It doesn't bother us at all!)

We are sending you lots of purrs Madison! Kirzon is about your age and has to have tooth stuff done a lot too - he has bad teeth too, so we can sympathize! We know it will be ok and no matter what we know your mom will take good care of you - even if it means only squishy food for you (which actually can be quite tasty!) So even with only a few teeth you will do just fine!

We are purring for your vet visit to go well.
Mum said she had a tortie who lived to 23 and never had a tooth left in her mouth. She said she would gum a lamb bone to death and get far more meat off it than any of the younger cats.

We are purring for you, and we hope that you will get loads of special treats when you come home.

Madison, we are so sorry you have to go to the v-e-t & get your toofs taken - if they take all of them, how can you put the bitey on anyone?? Our Mom has heard that kitties can do just fine without them, though!

We hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does, you know your Mom will take extra special care of you after it's done.

We'll be purring that everything goes ok & that you're up and around in no time!!

What a sweet boy you are, Madison -- just look at that face! I'm sorry to hear about going to the V-E-T and the tooth problems, but you'll be okay no matter what. The V-E-T is there to help you, not hurt you. And it's great that you're healthy otherwise. I know Mom doesn't have to worry.

Wow, you're quite the big boy, Madison! I never would have guessed.

Actually, I know everything went well already, so I just hope you get back to normal as soon as possible.
