Thursday In The Garden with Jonesie and Madison

Meow!  It's a big day in the garden.  My brother Madison turns 14 today!  He's extra special because he's the only cat in our family where we actually know for certain and for real when his true birthday is.  Truth is, mom just made up the rest of our birthdays based on a best guess.
There is still lots to do since everything isn't planted yet. Maybe next weekend we can plant the basil.  The eggplants are doing ok.  I've heard that sharpening your claws by the baby eggplants helps them grow.  Not sure where I heard it. Maybe I dreamed it.  It seemed to work last year.

We had a bit of an urgent situation in the Society of Feline Gardeners.  Our VP and my bestest buddie in the whole world, Alfie Marshall, had a  ::whispers:: crisis of confidence! Seems his carrot seeds and his french beans aren't growing the way he would like.  He seems to think I'll be hugely disappointed in him.  He doesn't realize that some failures are a part of being a great garden cat.  No risk, no reward.  Truth is...my very own nip plants are not doing well at all this year.  A failure by any cat's standards.  Does that mean I'm not a great garden cat?

I think not.
I got to hang out with Cecilia and Bennette by the herb garden.  The nip may not  be growing, but the other herbs are doing fine, thank you very much!

Pawing it over to Madison now!
Hi there!  I'm the grand poo bah...big boy around here.  I'm the only kitty here who remembers most of the ones who came before.  Ellie and Cory and Jonesie knew some of them, but I'm the only one who remembers Morgan...the cat who started it all.   Mom says that makes me special.
My birthday kiss from Cecilia.

Do any of you remember late last summer when I had to be shaved because of my itchy skin?  Well it happened again and I had to spend Wednesday at the v-e-t.  I meowed that I needed to get home in time for my birthday party.  I thought it would be cool if I could relive my past fun with my tatoo...from the Hams of the Werld Tour.  I was told what happened in Porkopolis would stay in Porkopolis...but it didn't happen.  Some kitty spilled the beans!

We're having niptinis and ham and cheese in the garden so stop in and stay awhile!

Tell Jonsie our nip is doing great; we'll bring a couple of big buds over to share and celebrate with you.
We gave Alfie some encouragement, he's so anxious to grow stuff like Jonsie.

Hi Jonesie,

Thank yoo so much for the support. I'm already feling much better and am determined to wait patiently while my seeds grow. I guess I'm learning that gardening requires patience.

Happy Birthday to Madison! We're on our way over to join in the celebrashuns and we will be bringing fresh Toona and cheese. See yoo soon.

Love Alfie xx

Happy Birthday, Madison! The party sounds great. Good luck on your gardening, Jonsie. Growing your own nip sounds wonderful. My Mom planted some nip once, but none of it even sprouted.

I have to say our nip plants seem to be late coming out as the PM can't find them. Not looking good. I hopefully will have a better report next week.

We didn't spill the beans, promise! But Disco has been known to sport a tattoo a time or two, since he doesn't have much fur to begin with.

We don't get to go our in our garden, but we sure enjoy your adventures!

Happy Birthday, Madison! Sorry you had to go to the Vet! Grayson had to go, too. He was a pretty good sport about it though.

Jonesie, you are quite right, even the best gardeners occasionally have crops that fail.

PS. Would you pass some Smoochies from Whitey to Cory! kthxbai

PS: Jonesie, nip can be touchy to grow, try working some sand or grit in around it, it originates from sandy & gritty places we heard.

Jonesie, your garden is really looking good (darn those nip plants!)!

That's exactly what we are worried about, her running back to her old "home." It's a good 4-5 miles and across a bridge. We rode over there yesterday to make sure she hadn't traveled back and didn't see her. Doesn't mean she can't be on her way though. Worried sick about her and purray she is nearby and will just start eating at the food station and get used to our property. She wasn't in the enclosure very long, so not sure how familiar she got with the new surroundings.

Happy Birthday Madison! You are still one very handsome mancat for all the time you've been on this earth (since the beginning, it seems)!

My 3-Ds will be pleased to join you for your birthday bash, and they're bringing a couple of cases of Temptations to share with efurryone -- we know there will be a big crowd at your party. Have a good one!

And Jonesie, you are absolutely right that gardening, as in life, has its ups and downs. Even the most expurrt gardeners cannot control all the conditions necessary for everything to grow.

Perhaps the catnip isn't doing so well because it's being eaten on a daily basis (just a thought).

Ellie, Bennette and Jonesie are on the LOLSpot today.

Happy birthday Madison! I wish we could go out in the backyard - I bet we could help our human do some gardening! But unfortunately, she doesn't garden. She says she has a "brown thumb."

Mummy says she only knows the real birthday of my sister Pricilla as well, even though she came to us at the age of 12! mawhawhaw!

We are amazed by Jonesie's garden tips, like clawing near the eggplants!!
