Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

I may look like I'm relaxing in the garden, but I'm really hard at work.  There's no way my carrots would be growing well if I weren't keeping them company.

I have good news to share...about my little friend the Meezer kitty who was hanging out in our yard and meowing at our window at night.   Our next door neighbor had been feeding him.  Yes it's a boy.   He was captured and taken to the v-e-t place for a nice neutering and what we call "the works"...meaning flea treatment, vaccinations...purrrrr.  And yes...he will be living next door!

His temporary name is "Blue", but we will let you know if that changes.  Mom will do her best to get a photo of him soon.

My tomatoes are just about ready to ripen.

Our corn that was a bit more than "knee high on the 4th of July" is now towering over my head.  I think some of them may be ready for the grill soon.

Mom bought herself a copy of Bobby Flay's grill cookbook so she will know how to grill all of the food I am growing for her and my daddy.

Oh you are doing a lovely job in the garden. We have found that Ichiro likes to lie on the seeds that the male planted (a bit late) for California Poppies that he liked. We're not sure if it was the timing or Ichiro that is keeping them from really sprouting. The woman keeps thinking that that particular flower will find a way to show up in the garden next year even if nothing happens this year!

That is very good news for Blue.
I know you are working hard Jonesie. I am having to work overtime at the moment keeping the white butterflies off the swede turnip leaves. Every time I turn my back they come and lay millions of tiny yellow eggs on them. Dad is going to net them tomorrow so I don't have to work as hard.

Jonesie, it's a good thing you are so dedicated and knowledgeable ... your garden would be nothing without your expertise. GREAT news about Blue!
