Thursday In The Garden With Jonesie

Welcome back to my garden!  I admit I've been a bit jealous as I visit my furriends in their gardens with all of their lovely red tomatoes.  I've been watching over my tomatoes.  I've purred on them.  I've warmed them with my floof.

And they are still green!

At least my corn is ready to eat.  I know Figaro will claim that he is responsible because he watched it grow, but there is more to being a garden cat than just eyeballing the crops.  You see my furriends, it's a year long process that begins with sitting on mom's lap looking through seed CATalogs.  Then I snoopervise dad as he digs up the dirt, and mom puts in the seeds and plants.  I'm there when dad waters.  And now we get our prize!
I take my job seriously because my family is depending on me for food.  Cory and Ellie wouldn't be able to lick the corn cobs if it weren't for me...and that makes me purrr.

Ellie appreciates everything I do.  She loves vegetables.

Garden Cat.

It's not an easy job, but when you see your sisters loving what you've grown for them, it's the greatest feeling.

yum corn! You are nice to share. Green tomatoes are excellent for making chutney - do you American kitties eat chutney?

You are such a master at gardening, Jonesie. Great job providing your family with food. It's funny: Some stuff is earlier at your place and other - like the tomatoes - is later. Did you grow them from seeds? Our mom bought little seedlings.

corn on the cob - delicious looking.. and how kind of you to share. Don't worry about your tomatoes, we think a lot are still green (except ours which are basically just reddening up on a HUGE TREE and living with them is not easy). Lovely to be back visiting you. Have gone backwards through your posts too to see what you have been up to. Love Darcy and Bingley xx

Most of our tomatoes got eated by wicked mean grasshopsters. Actually, we didn't do so well with our garden this year. **sigh** But we're already looking forward to next year with a new plan......

Fried green tomatoes are yummy.

Your corn looks pawsome. Ours all died :>(

What did your family do before you came along, Jonesie? They probably starved.

Your garden looks terrific, and that corn yummy! What a superb gardener you are, Jonesie!

Your humans could make green tomato chutney--chutney? Something like that. Our human's mom would make it, but our human hates food prep of any kind, so never has tried.

You're a sweet girl, Jonesie. We think your sisters would be very appreciative of your skills in the garden.

The only way we could get green tomatos is to buy them at the market. Sigh.

We are so impressed with your corn, Jonesie! You are a great gardener. Our mom says that fresh corn is the thing she most misses about not being able to have a vegetable garden.

All our friends here have lots of red tomatoes because of the extremely hot weather we had earlier this year. One friend said it was the earliest he'd ever had tomatoes! So we hope yours get red soon too - they look like they will be very yummy.

You have a wonderful garden and if your tomatoes don't chenge to red, your beans can always make pickled toms. They are DELISH!

Corn, yummy! We really loved your post today. We can picture you sitting on your Mom's lap looking at seed catalogs.

Our tomatoes are slow to ripen this year too. Too foggy and chilly this Summer. We have had about five ripe tomatoes so far from one plant. The other two are just green. (three different varieties) xoxo

Those tomatoes will turn red some time. Our cherry tomatoes have been reddening up and getting eaten for a little while already. Corn is amazing! How cute Cory and Ellie are licking on the corn! You are a real master gardener, Jonesie.

Oooo CORN!! Boy does that look sooo tasty!!! We don't have any corn...or tomatoes..you're lucky to have those. We have a few flowers and about a 1000 miles of pumpkin vines....but no corn. Actually, this late in the summer, the garden is starting to look a bit fatigued. Time for us all to take a rest. Good job on feeding your sisters...you are the best gardener!!! You work very hard in the garden Jonesie. Our tomatoes have only been ripening over the last 2 weeks, but mum says they are a bit earlier than usual.
