Friday with Jonesie

Hi my furriends!  This first picture was taken when I got home from the v-e-t on Christmas Eve. If you look close you can see how my face is puffy around my nose (if you look on the right side of the photo).  You can see how the swelling is close to my eye.

This photo was taken on Boxing Day, after 2 doses of prednisone.  Mom thinks the swelling is going down.   I will continue on the prednisone to make sure this is really helping.  For sure.

The other news is that the v-e-t stole some of my blood and sent it off for testing.  I have hyperthyroid.  One of the reasons my mom was freaked out is because I lost a pound...even though I've been eating well...and of course mooching a bit over the holidays.  Now we know why.

Before I can go in for treatment for hyperthyroid I have to make sure my nose swelling issues are under control.  I will probably have to pack my kitty bags and go off to a special clinic for 4 days, but I won't be going for at least a few weeks.

Mom says that our Guardian Angels Morgan and Jonathan both went through radioactive iodine treatment and it worked great.   I never met Morgan, but I knew Jonathan and he was the most pawsome of cats.  If it was good for him then it will be good for me.  I can feel it in my paws.

Thank you for all of your purrs.  It means the world to me.

We missed all this and are sorry! We're sending purrs to you, Jonesie. We're so glad you're having the I-131 done. If our human could have had a redo with Annie, she'd have found a way to have it done, logistics and finances be darned. So paws crossed for you, sweetie, and lots of purrayers and Light and hugs.

We're purring for your swollen face, and for your radioactive iodine treatment's success, too. One of the cats who came before had I-131 treatment. Make sure your peeps ask what the policy is at the clinic if you need a second round (the specialist here admitted it happened in a good percentage of their cats... and didn't tell our peeps until after the first round).

Oh Jonesie, sorry we are late late reading this post. Healing purrs.

We are curious about the radioactive iodine treatment as if the y/d doesn't work for Socks he will have to have it. So far paws crossed the y/d seems to be working.

We never heard of radioactive iodine treatment. If you do that, does it mean you don't have to take medicine everyday? That would be pawsome. We will keep your name on our 24/7 purr-a-thon list until you are all better! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Lisbeth, Astrid and Calista Jo
