Tuesday Woofie Tales- A Rescue Story

Hi there!  I know I don't get to post very often, but I have very special news to share with you.  I got to be a part of something VERY cool.  A woofie rescue!

Those of you who know me know that I was rescued by my humans.  I was on the run and in trouble when I was picked up by Animal Control.  I was scared...it was awful.  I know I found my forever humans this way...but ::shivers::.  I still have phobias because of it, but not as severe now.  I'm a sensitive girl.

So...you can imagine that my desire to help went into overdrive when presented with a girl who was in trouble.

See...it all started on a morning last week.  Mom and dad were driving in to town because there was a thunderstorm  the night before...it was raining.  There were still some thunderboomies.  Mom will ride her bike some mornings....but not when the weather is scary like that.  So we all piled in the car to take mom to work.

We came around a corner and there...standing in a front yard of a house...a woofie.

She looked scared.  She was soaking wet.  We knew it didn't add up.  We had to stop.

Dad got out first.  The woofie girl was scared but she approached dad.  He could read her tags. Mom handed him the cell phone and made a call.   We reached her humans!  She had been on the run ALL.NIGHT.LONG.   She became frightened by the thunderboomies and she hopped her fence and took off!   I completely understand because the thunderboomies scare me too!

We knew her name because it was on her tag.  Layla.  We started calling her by name.  I did my woofie best to send her unspoken messages that it was ok to trust my mom and dad.

She hopped in the car!  I always ride in my crate, so I gave her a little woof...just one and let her know it was ok to ride with me.  Mom kept telling her she was going home.  Dad stayed on the phone with Layla's human and we drove her home.  She smiled a doggie smile.

She was over a mile from home!

Poor sweet furriend!

When she got home she was thrilled.  Shook herself off and hopped up on her couch.

Isn't she beautiful?  Mom and dad didn't take any photos of her during the rescue...they were too focused on getting her home again.  Layla's humans shared this photo with us.

So my furriends...there are things to learn from this.

Our collars and tags are a phone call home for a woofie without a cell phone!  Both Layla and I are microchipped and that is awesome too...but having current information on her tags meant that we got her home within minutes of finding her.

If you see a woofie...or a kitty even...and they are in trouble...do what you can to help.  I'm so proud of myself for being able to help sweet Layla.  There is something wonderful about knowing that you were in the right place at the right time to help.

Mom and dad are so proud of me that I get to appear in more posts this week!

Our Mom and Dad have helped a few woofies that were lost get home. Tags with phone numbers are a huge help!

That is an amazing story! My human and her boyfriend, and the lady who walks the dog here when my human's boyfriend is out of town, have all saved lost dogs... but none of them had tags and it took them a lot longer to either find out where they came from or find a home where they were wanted (the dog my human and her boyfriend found had been abandoned at a dog park). I wish they would focus on kitties 100% of the time, but when duty calls, they follow!
