Here it is, spring has arrived and we still don't have much sunshine. Welcome to spring in the Northwest! We still do not have any flowers blooming. Even our daffodils have not bloomed and it's almost the end of March. They are still a couple of days away from showing us any color. All I can do is hang out and help my dad with the final preparations of the veggie bed. Guess what he found while digging in the dirt? Yes, carrots from last years crop! They are perfectly good and ready to eat...if you like carrots. I don't like to eat them, I'm just happy there is a touch of color in the yard, even if it is a vegetable.

You are a very good gardener, Jonesie. Do you help with the, um, fertilizing?!
We don't care for carrots either, but your garden sounds neat to have.
That sounds like a Gardener's Anonymous: Hi, I'm Siena and I'm a gardener too. For the first time mom is having a go on veggies too: Peas, sweet peas and mangold (chard). I still haven't seen any catnip around - what is she thinking? Do you grow valerian and thyme too? Kitties are supposed to like them... Chilli has a new friend in her Silky & Slender Crew, Fiona, and her mom made a garden for cats once. I'm going to link to it in a future post. Purrs from Head Gardener to Head Gardener! Siena
Jonesie - I think Spring sunshine is just a heartbeat away!
It must have been a nice surprise to turn up all those carrots. Our mum says they look yummy. As non-carrot eaters, we wouldn't know.
There's a lot of carrots hiding there! Good job snoopervising the digging, Jonesie!
We're still waiting for spring!
Wow, Jonesie! That's a lot of carrots missing in action. How did nobuddy know that? At least they have been rescued now.
Jonesie you not just any gardner - you're a brilliant gardner. You help your daddy a lot.
That looks like a great time in the garden. We love the cat shelf on the raised bed.
What a super duper cute gardener on Earth!
Just want to let u know that our furriend Cal from the Creek Cats went to the bridge just now.. :(
Let us purrs for his family~
Good gardening, Jonesie! Just look at all those carrots. You will be ready when the Easter Buddy arrives.
That's a great veggie bed, Jonesie! Our mom wants to build some just like that in our backyard. Do you have to remove the lawn underneath first, and what do you fill the beds with?
Purrs,
Rocky
How wonderful to find surprise carrots! We love reading about people getting vegetable patches ready. Come quickly, spring!
hehe Jonesie did you plant them carrots as a surprise for your momma and dadda.. what a lovely idea! That would have been a "maker of your day" :))
Glad that your garden now has some color! I don't like carrots .... but at least had some color ^ ^
Jas & Gi.
That is a very nice raised bed.
The lady likes roasted carrots. Raw carrots, not so much. But, roasted carrots are sweet, like candy (so she says). Cut into chunks, toss with olive oil, salt and freshly ground pepper, roast at 350 for about 30 minutes (or, 425 for 15 to 20 min.)
Hi Jonesie. It looks like you are a good gardener. Imagine, you found carrots after winter, and they are still good. That must make you even better than good.
