Wordy Wednesday

Hi furriends!  I'm here to give you an update on my sister Cory.  She asked me to meow about her issues because I can relate to what she's going through. I too have had issues in the past with *ahem* pee.

See the issue with Cory is that the test results showed no crystals and no bacteria.  Only some blood.  The vets think it's because she is not drinking enough and is stressed.  That makes mom sad because she doesn't think Cory has much to be stressed about.  I mean...she gets along with Bennette.  I don't understand why, but she does.

Mom had the drinking fountain turned off for a couple of weeks and everyone is now suspecting that having the fountain out of action played a role in Cory's woes.

The fountain is back in working order and mom is adding water to everyone's Fancy Feast.  Mom will give Cory some pain meds to make her more comfortable until all is well again.

Oh poor Cory! She is clearly a highly sensitive cat. Given that her Mom is clearly a meeze, this should be of no surprise. We are exceedingly sensitive and have so many special needs. I do hope your person is better at meeting those needs than mine.

I hate when vets only have vague answers to what is ailing a kitty. I hope that their suggestions are helpful and everything is all right again with Cory.

It's good in the way, Cory didn't have any issue about internal problems. When I can't pee, I got crystals. and since then I only allowed to eat Royal Canin Urinary SO till the rest of my life. Because this food will help me drink lots of water and then I can pee. and help my urine pH in the right level.

I hope Cory's med and Fountain works well for her. I send more purrs and paws crossed for her

Love
Puddy

Thanks for the update on Cory, Cecilia! We hope Cory will feel better after the pain meds and having more fluid in her. Sounds like your Mom has everything under control! :)

Poor Cory! Sometimes we feel "stress" is the ultimate answer for the docs when they don't see what could be the cause. Please get better, Cory. We're purring for you!

Poor baby girl! I feel your Mom's pain, too. Since Gandalf was diagnosed with FLUTD I've been trying all kinds of stuff to get more water into ALL of them. Tuna juice is the easiest way I've found so far. I can make it mostly water and they will all still lap every bit up!

We're glad that there were no crystals but we hope the issue will be resolved by the once-agan-flowing fountain. We would hate for our sweet Cory to suffer.

Big Purrs,

That sounds exactly like sister Precious who was misdiagnosed many time until we found the proper vet. Turns out she has sterile cystitis which is as you describe. The fountain, juicy food + treats that contain the active ingredient in cosequine (helps strengthen the kidney lining) and alll has been great ever since. The diagnosis of sterile cystitis took a 3 day lab culture but it paid off for us. Purrs to you sweet Cory.

Well, this sounds like what Zoey was going through. The mom has been adding lots of water to her food...ours too now...and she's been doing okay.

We sure hope Cory is feeling better soon.

Continued purrs! At least there's no bacterial infection or crystals, that's a good thing.

I have Derry on two homeopathic remedies from PetAlive.com (just tossing this out for info): Their UTI-Free and and PetCalm. I can't say they'll work long-term, I just take it one day at a time with him. Both boys also get those Vetri Science calming treats, but I'm quite skeptical about their effectiveness.

Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about Cory's *ahem* pee problems. I had a lot of them over 2 years, and they are not fun at all. I turned the corner after I received a series of chiropractic adjustments and finished a course of injections of a drug that is usually used to treat arthritis in animals but is used for bladder problems in humans. My vet told me that I had evidence of a minor old injury in my pelvis that was causing a bit of stiffness, and that the majority of cats with unexplained bladder trouble have the same. She said it can be as simple as landing funny when jumping off the cat tree, and that we might never have shown any outward signs of being hurt but it was enough to leave things a touch out of alignment and feeling a little stuff. She said that stiffness can irritate the bladder. Since I had the adjustments (which O really enjoyed!) I haven't had a single episode. I just wanted to mention it in case you thought it might be relevant for Cory.
Sending big happy bladder smooches to my friend,
Suey.

Poor Cory! We hope that getting more fluids in her will do the trick. As for stress, who knows? No human can really tell what we are thinking and feeling all the time.
