Meow! Now that the password has been leaked by Ginger, I'm thinking of coming up with a new one. Until then, I think it's a free for all in my garden and in our Garden Society.
Now that it's fall, I get a bit reflective. There is not a whole lot for me to do except harvest a few things here and there. Because it was so wet and dreary most of the spring and summer, only some things grew well. Our tomatoes are still mostly green and those that have ripened have rotted or have been eaten by slugs.
What's a garden cat to do? I sit and enjoy what I have. There was a time when I didn't have a home. I used to sit on the edges of this garden, looking in and not ever believing that one day I would be welcomed here. Now the garden is mine! I am very thankful.
One of the crops that did fairly well this year were heirloom beans that we planted for the first time.
These are beans that mom can cook into soups! I don't think they will make very good cat food. Maybe Cory will whap the little beans around if she gets a chance?
I purred when I saw that we have a few late raspberries showing up. There have only been a few, but we are grateful for each and every one.
Ginger is carefully watching over the green peppers for me. It's good to know I don't have to do everything around here. Ginger is not much of a gardener, but she does love me and offers to help sometimes.
Remington, our neighbor cat likes to hang out by the apples that we picked.
With all the help I've been getting in the garden, I think I'll just relax and wash my paws. Until next Thursday my furry friends!
Please leave a link so I know what's happening in your gardens!

PeeEssWoo: Hi Grete and Oliver!
Wow! You have a nice bushel of apples. Will you make cider?
Always enjoy what ya have...
What a productive garden you guys have! Must be all the work you do Jonesie!
Yep, not much to do in the garden these days. Your raspberries look yummy. Enjoy your Thursday friends!
Beans and raspberries and apples and peppers etc - you have lots of interesting garden stuff!
Oh boy do we know about wet and dreary!! Because of it we already have a TON of leaves in our garden. Raspberries...none. But Mom did tell me to give you a solution to the green tomatoes...put them in a plastic bag with ripe bananas...the bananas give off some kind of gas that helps the green tomatoes to ripen. You can at least try it if you want!! So nice to have help in the garden. Tiny doesn't help much, though she did help with the apples A TINY BIT!! haha! I'm so funny!! Those beans!!! Those beans are like tiny jewels!!! So pretty!! We don't have those AT ALL...just pumpkins...lots of pumpkins...and slugs!! ICK!!! Have a great day!! Purrs, Lautrec
Our tomatoes didn't ripen well this year either and yes the slugs managed to get to the ones that did.
Hopefully next year will be much better for gardening.
Meow! It sounds like yoo have a managerial role now ~ snoopervising the others in the gardening labour ~ with a bit of "paws on" when yoo feel like it. And It's only right and proper that sumbuddy wiv all yoor experience should be management level. So congratulations!
If I had a bigger fambly I'd werk towards the same status as yoo ~ but there is only Milo ~ and he is arty-farty and styles himself as a poet, hoo doesn't like getting his paws too derty! :sigh:
Have a great day Jonesie ~ I love being yoor friend.
Love Alfie xx
I'm sorry the weather has kept the garden from producing as much as you would have liked, Jonesie, but you do have some good food for the humans!
at least it seems to be shining your way today. Definitely a time to be out and having a bit of clean up. We love your dusty grey colouring. Love Darcy and Bingley xx
August was a catastrophe weather-wise over here and our little attempts at vegetables didn't go that well. There's always a next year and part of the gardening fun is planning ahead. You did a great job in the garden this year and so much happened at your home. It's good to get a bit pensative and reflect on everything you got. We loves you, Jonesie!
Many purrs,
Siena & Chilli
Our tomatoes got eaten by grasshopsters so we know what you mean. We all love this time of year when we are just doing cleanup and can sit and do more thinking ABOUT the garden than working IN it.
It's a great garden you have there Jonesie!
What?? No tomatoes?? What will you whap?? Those beans might work but for me, there's nothing like whapping a tomato off the kitchen counter!
Wally
Beautiful girl, you have done a brilliant job in your garden. Your raspberries look super juicy!
We think you are growing some amazing things in your garden, Jonesie. The beans look pawsome - and so do the raspberries and apples! And we agree that autumn is a good time to think. We are very glad you have such a wonderful forever home.
Looking good as always, I wouldn't mind whapping some of those beans myself!
Our tomatoes did much better than we thought with all the bad weather. Most of them ripened by the end of August, but there are still some ripening. The slugs didn't eat our tomatoes but they ate three of the six nip plants mum grew for us.
Jonesie, you have a nice garden and a big yard. I like my Mom's garden too, but she doesn't grow any fruits or vegetables, she grows herbs and flowers.
Jonesie, congrats on a job well done this summer -- you can't control the weather and you did the very best you could. Those are amazing beans -- and yes, they would make marvelous cat toys.
That's really cool about a few raspberries making their appearance at this late date, too.
Your garden is a place for your siblings and neighbour kitties to come and relax -- it must have such a welcoming feeling.
It is good to appreciate every single good thing in one's life, Jonesie. You're doing a great job!
Those beans look pawsome.
We're tellin' ya...make pickled tomatoes with the green ones! YUMMY~!!! And what a bean haul! We love raspberries AND apples. Nothing like mom baking apple pies on a yucky, cold day!
We are glad you have help in the garden. That Remington looks like a handsome cat.
Greetings to you Cory,
So nice to meet you and especially today, being garden day.
My dad was trying to find out more because he wishes to start participating in this event, since I like to be in the garden but only when mum and dad are there because I was attacked by a dog two years ago.
Dad just downloaded the banner and will add it to the sidebar a little later.
This idea of your was and is a great one.
Wishing you all the best,
Miss Kitty and Egmont
Great stuff in your garden and the raspberries look Yummy : )
Fantastic harvest. Pity about the tomatoes. Maybe you can use them as rolly toys?
