Meow! Welcome back to my garden.
This is a good time of year in the garden. The grass is growing more slowly, everything is planted, so we have more time to sit around and enjoy it all. My pears are starting to become pears. Sometimes the apples and pears will drop from the tree, so we have to watch out to make sure they don't drop on our furry little heads.
Snoopervising Figaro is not as easy as it looks. He's a quick study, but he's still a kitten.
I helped mom and dad find a wasp nest way up high in the tree. I meowed until they noticed! You might have to biggify the picture to see it. I won't climb up and swat it down. No way! I think they will call in the pros to deal with it.
As promised for Dante, here is a dahlia. This because he was saying he's not purrone to dalliances in his garden last week, but he loves dahlias!
Below we have a mystery plant! See if you can guess what it is. My mom and dad had no idea and tried to figure it out on their own. Even I as a garden cat couldn't figure it out. It's because we have so many volunteer plants in our yard. I think the birdies and squirrels are secretly helping me! If you give up, you can check out the link here. Dad had to go to the garden center and they told him what it is!
I made sure I was entertaining Grete, keeping an eye on her this week. She's still bummed out about Bear-Bear.
I watch out for Grete and Grete watches out for me. She's a good woofie.
Please leave a link!

PeeEssWoo: Hi Grete - we are sad too

Jonesie your garden talks are always awesome. Scary wasp nests, big woofies and great pictures of you. It's unbeatable.
Hi Jonesie,
Meow! Yoor Dahlia is awesomely pretty. Mom's late father was a very keen gardener and grew beaitiful Dahlias when mom was a child ~ so mom really enjoyed see this one as it made her feel nostalgic (and smile sadly).
And the pears are fabulous! We don't have any fruit trees in our garden but mom would like some one day.
Stay away from the wasp's nest for sure ~ I got stunged again this week ~ that makes 3 times since I was borned. Mom said it was my own fault 'cos I swatted a wasp and then tried to eat it. But it was very ouchy ~ and I'd hate that to happen to yoo.
Send Grete my purrs ~ we are supporting Bear-Bear too ~ only mom can't read the story or she will be too upset (but she knows the gist of it).
Figaro is coming on nicely ~ he reminds me of me when I was a trainee kitten gardener and yoo were so patient and kind to me. I fink he will be a wonderful assistant for yoo when he has matured a bit ~ but that might take a while ...
Love Alfie xx
I can see you are working very, very hard, Jonesie! That was a great catch, finding that wasp's nest! Your humans are lucky to have your help.
I and my Puddy ( cat visitor ) enjoy your beautiful garden. And Puddy think wasp's nest in your garden is cool !
Everyday Cat Visitor
A wasp nest? Yikes! Stay far away from that thing! Oh my gosh!! We were right about the plant! It grows wild here all around our fields and Momma likes it...butterflies do to.
Lovely garden looked after by a lovely cat!
Love you Jonesie!! :)
I didn't know what that plant was either.
The garden looks great, Jonesie!! Yeah, you don't wann deal with those wasps yourself!! And we don't know what that mystery plant is. We hope somebuddy else does!!
Our mum's dad once knocked a wasps nest out of a tree when he was a child. He said he didn't know what it was at first, but he knew what it was when it hit the ground and started buzzing!
Real live pears? How marvelous!
Hey, Jonesie, want me to send Gracie over to get those wasps? She is the Bugonator here at the Swamp, including hornets, wasps, mud-dabbers and bees... anything that dares to enter her patio! I don't know how she doesn't get stung!
Whitey is sending smoochies to Cory!
We have pears too & some are already falling. Watch your noggins ;) P.S., that is a pretty Dahlia.
Oh, wowies, pears and dhalias. How great.
You and Grete look great together. I don't even want to think about Bear-Bear. It is awful.
Can't see the pic of Figaro fro some reason.
Everything sure looks pretty and yep, Grete sure is a good woofie!
Grete, we are all very sad about Bear-Bear too. And we worries about Fenris a lot. No Dog parks for him, you never know what deranged bean will be there.
Jonesie, the pears look yummy.
Time to sit back and reap the fruits of your labor......
That Dahlia sure is purrty. give Grete some kisses for us....
Ooooo! Those pears look DEEEElicious!! Mom and Dad wish we could have pears (not the right weather here I guess), but we do have apples, cherries and plums...but no pears..or apricots or peaches. You are lucky!! Yah! Stay away from those wasps!! We actually had a hornet nest in our garden last year and those guys are REALLY SCAREY!! Wasps and hornets have our respect - big time...we don't mess with them!! You are really good about taking care of your people - both the furry ones and the non-furry ones...we admire you!! And you have a wonderful garden, too!! (No wonder the birdies and squirrels give you little seed gifts - how nice of them!!) Purrs, Lautrec and Tiny
That dahlia is just beautiful! I have some trouble with earwigs that eat mine up!
Nice to see that you and the woofie look after each other :-)
Goodness, Jonesie! Even when there's nothing new growing in your garden, there's still lots of activity! Good for you for spotting that wasp's nest and alerting your parents -- that was the smart thing to do.
You're so busy snoopervising Figaro and playing with Grete, it's a wonder to have time for anything else.
Thank you so, so much for this picture of your lovely dahlia -- Dante is beside him with ecstasy! We don't know what your pretty mystery plant is -- at first we thought maybe Summersweet, but no.
We enjoyed your gardening post as always, and we're so glad to be part of your gardening circle.
Hi Jonesie! The garden is looking great this week. And it is good that you are teaching Figaro about gardening too!
And it is great that you are taking good care of Grete while she is sad - we are sad about Bear Bear too.
Your gardens are just lovely. I can see your expertise and personal labors produced a little patch of paradise for all of you
bonks
Jonesie
What a great tour of your garden.
Oh my fresh home grown pears.
How wonderful.
Momma says if we had anything like that the squirrels would eat it before we could harvest it.
*sigh*
We saw Momma out today in one of her flower beds cutting fronds from a sago palm. She was pulling weeds and trimming her roses...
it was hot out there too...
purrs

That dahlia sure is pretty! We dont know what the mystery plant is, but it is real innerestin. We hope it pops open some flowers so ya got a better chance of learnin what it is. The only fruit we have is apples, but the Evil Skwerls pick them off while still green.
I know!!!! Well Delilah knowz!!! It i called Joe Pye Weed.. & we gotsez lots of its.
It usually growz to be 5-7 feetsez tall. We gots one clump dat iz growin' to 7 footes dis year.
I tink we mights gets a gold star?
Or at leastee a fishy!
Jonesie, you are queen of the garden!!
We are so late commenting on this because our silly mom was "too busy" to write Franklin's gardening post this week - but we would love to have some Joe Pye weed volunteer in our yard! They sell it in garden catalogs and it's a nice tall native plant. We think the dahlia is very pretty too. Ours always get earwigs so we quit growing them.
P.S. Our silly mom thought the Joe Pye weed was milkweed - shows what she knows!
P.P.S. We're sending many purrs to Grete and Bear-Bear's family. Our mom knows the area where this happened and she cannot believe the idiot human thought it was OK to shoot off a gun there - it is quite populated.
