Happy Gotcha Day Grete!

Happy Gotcha Day to me!!!!   I love the graphic that the Zoolatry girls made for me a long time ago...before Figaro joined our family.   I will imagine the hat on my head has his name on it.

I came to my family 5 years ago today.

Some of you know the story...I was at Animal  Control...I was a stray...and that was not the first time I had been on my own.   I have a long and confusing story.

The most important part is that on May 21st 2008, mom was looking on Petfinder.com.  She saw my picture and my story and she told dad and they hopped in the car right away to come meet me.  Doggies at Animal Control are adopted out first come first served.

I was lucky mom was fast...they got there shortly after they opened for the day.   There I was in this concrete kennel.  It was horrible.

But I liked mom and dad from the start.  I knew I would love them.

So...below are photos of me on the day I came home.   My squeaky possum is my very first toy.

I'm a lucky girl.

Check out my interview at Savannah's Paw Tracks for more detail about my rescue and adjustment to life in my home.

Happy Gotcha Day Grete!

I'm interrupting this "Mitten Monday" to put my paw down...and take over the day in my own honor!  Yes furriends, it's my 4th Gotcha Day!

Mom and dad got a little forgetful...I mean May is a busy month, with Ellie's Birthday, Cory and Ellie's Gotcha Day...it's enough partying to wear us all out!   These are the photos from my very first day at home.   I had been in the ::pound:: picked up as a stray.   I was in a concrete kennel surrounded by barking noisy dogs.  I hated it.  I wouldn't eat.

Little did I know that on May 21st, 2008, my future mom was searching Petfinder.com while she was at work.  Mom and dad were heartbroken because guardian angel woofie Colby had run off to the Bridge in March.  They were dogless...

So when mom saw my photo and read my story, she immediately called dad...she arranged to take a 1/2 day vacation and off they went.   For me!

So...anyway, they get there and there are all these woofies barking and making a fuss and jumping up and down.  There I was...good as gold sitting there quiet in my kennel.  They brought me out, talked to me...and I made my move.  Yes, I planted a little kiss on mom's face.

Worked like a charm because next thing you know their car door opened and I hopped in!!!

Thing is...the joke was on my mom and dad.  I'm not quiet.  Not at all.

This is me in my yard earlier this week.  I'm loving the life as a professional cat herder and all around good (and noisy) dog!

Happy Gotcha Day Grete!!!!

Woof!
Happy Gotcha Day to me!!!!  Three years ago I came to live in this wonderful crazy house full of kitties!  All of the pictures posted today are from my first day here.  I was all alone and scared in a concrete kennel at Animal Control.  There were other woofies barking all the time and it was noisy.  I was confused.

Then these 2 people appeared out of nowhere and said I could leave the concrete and come visit with them out on the grass.   I had no idea at the time they would become my mom and dad.  My new mom asked me if I thought it would be ok if I went to live with them.

I gave her a little lick on the face.

I must have worked, because the next thing I knew is that paper work was filled out and I was invited to hop into their car with them.

Oh yeah!

When I got here the kitties weren't too excited.  It took awhile to win them over and mom made me stay on a leash in the house for a week or so just to be safe.

I love my kitties.

I loved my new home from the moment I got here.  I learned I had a nice big backyard, lots of toys and lots of love.
It was an exhausting day.

Grete's Gotcha Day!

Hi there!  It's my Gotcha Day!  May is a busy month at our house with all the Gotcha Days and birthdays.  Last year my mom and dad almost forgot my special day.  This year they remembered!  You can read about my adoption here.

It's been 2 whole years since I've been here.  Since I won't be 4 years old until July, that means I've lived here in my forever home longer than I've lived anywhere else.  I still have my rescue "issues"...but really I love it here and I've settled in.  I love all my kitties and I love the graphic that Ann made for me last year.  I like it so much, I'm using it again!

Today I'm demonstrating a move I learned from my sister Ginger...with a dash of Jonesie's garden to protect my privacy!
Life is good!  Happy Friday everyone!

Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

The poppies have finally popped! Grete is loving the yard. She chases and is a nuisance with all the other kitties, but she completely leaves me alone and won't mess with me. She knows that I own the garden and must follow MY rules. She was happy that the iris's started blooming since the raised beds won't be filled until Memorial Day weekend. And guess what...we almost forgot but today is Grete's 1st gotcha day anniversary. With all the excitement over Madison's birthday and Ellie's birthday and Ellie and Cory's gotcha day...we almost forgot about our girlie dog. She will get her own post tomorrow to make up for it. May is a very busy month around here.

Here I am marking the spots carefully for the new blueberry plants. We have 5 of them and spacing was an important task. I instinctively know where to place them and I lay on the spot. I'm pretty sure my parents would never be able to figure out where to plant them if I wasn't telling them what to do.
Here is one of the blueberries in the ground, all nice and tucked in.

Here is my big secret tip of the week. My mom thought she saw slug slime on her lettuce. She thinks the only good slug is a dead slug. She captures them by sinking little plastic champagne glasses in the dirt, then fills them with beer. Works like a charm. This wouldn't be Oregon if we didn't have slugs. I'm a good girl and I don't drink the beer.

When the days work is done, it's time for a well earned nap on the deck. I can still keep an eye on things if need be. I gotta rest up because this coming weekend is a BIG gardening weekend. All the rest of the veggies go in the ground.
