Wordy Wednesday

Thank you for all of your kind purrs yesterday.  My Cory was returned to me Tuesday morning.  The vet called my mom and filled her in on my baby girl.  Cory had blood in her pee and they think it's due to an inflammation.  She has to take anti-inflammatory medication and some antibiotics.  In addition the vet wanted my girl to eat some prescription food that Cecilia already eats.  Cory tried a bit and barfed it up right away.

The vet said the important thing is that Cory eats wet food...Fancy Feast is ok.

Cory just about did back flips!
We will see how it goes.

I was SO happy to get home.  I thought the vet wanted to keep me forever since I'm so cute and stuff.  I made sure I sat on mom, then on dad...then slept with my momma Ellie for awhile.

Dad let me use his glasses to read the labels on my medications.  It says "eat with food"!  More Fancy Feast for me!!!!  I think the kind with the gravy should be what the doctor ordered.

Thank you for thinking of me and purring for me.  It makes a huge difference when you are stuck in a cage for hours.  I really could feel the positive vibrations from my furriends.

I'm the luckiest girl in the world.

So glad to hear you are feeling better! My Ginger isn't doing well. She's having a great deal of difficulty walking. Started a couple months ago and keeps getting worse. She's really not herself and not eating much. She'll be 13 next month. I miss her already! :(

We'r so glad you're home! Purrs for a quick recovery!

Kim: Yes, Derry had his bladder inflammation, but because there was no bacteria in the culture and sensitivity test, he didn't need antibiotics, just pain meds for about a week. He's been okay since, knock on wood, and both boys are getting only 1/8 cup kibble a day now, half in the AM and half in the PM. I hadn't the heart to cut it out altogether, since Derry loves kibble and isn't much of a canned food eater.

There's terrific info at www.catinfo.org, written by a vet and based on her own experiences and research with her cats (one had a blockage and needed emerg surgery, it was pretty bad).

You might want to read what she has to say about grains in food. But of course we all have to do what works best for our fur companions.

(((Hugs))) from me and kitty kisses from the boys.

Well, Cory, at least there is a bright spot in all of this...more Fancy Feast!! We're glad you are doing better.

P.S. The gravy canned foods usually have wheat in them, which, IMO, isn't good. (Corn, soy and wheat are the three scary ingredients, IMO.) But if you feed a grain-free flavour of Fancy Feast, you can make "gravy" just by swishing a bit of warm water around in the empty can, to pick up the remaining juice and bits of food. At least that's what I do.

Good luck!

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better and are home where you should be!

Two of my boys had inflammation while on a high carb diet. So now they get a very low carb high protein diet.

http://catinfo.org/?link=urinarytracthealth

at the time I had a diabetic kitty and the two with the urinary issues, and I learned that low plant matter high meat based protein food is better for ALL cats, and that "prescription" foods really are not healthy. Catinfo explains it well. The book "Your Cat" by Elizabeth Hodgkins DVM explains it as well. She used to work for a major pet food company
