Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

You won't believe what's been happening around here.

Late last week, after Jonesie posted her garden post..something terrible happened.  Now...I don't want to alarm or cause too much drama...I would never do that.   I want to start out by saying that Jonesie is fine.

It was a normal late afternoon.   Jonesie and I were in the garden...well..ok, I wasn't in the garden.  I was on the deck on my bench.

I saw an introoder.  Grete was in the house, and she saw it too and started barking her head off!  This alerted mom who was doing laundry.  Mom came up to see what Grete was barking at and she saw...well, WE saw a little Jack Russell Terror Terrier woofie in our backyard.

In OUR fenced yard!

Mom left Grete in the house and came to see what the woofie wanted.

Mom tried to get the woofie to come to her, but the woofie wouldn't listen.  Then...the unthinkable happened.  Jonesie was walking through the garden and the little woofie saw her.  Before mom could catch the little beast, the woofie went after Jonesie.  It was horrifying...Jonesie was attacked in her very own garden.  Society of Feline Gardeners Headquarters was rudely disrespected!

Mom was screaming and trying to protect our Jonesie.  The little woofie went for Jonesie's neck and tore off her collar.  Jonesie, being a smart cookie went up the nearest tree.   This gave mom time to position herself under the tree to catch Jonesie when Jonesie couldn't hang on any longer.

Jonesie fell into the safety of mom's arms.

The cowardly woofie disappeared.

I was lucky the little crazed woofie never saw me.   I made myself REALLY small on my bench.

Jonesie has refused to step a paw outside of the house since this happened, which breaks my furry little heart since the garden has always been Jonesie's sanctuary.

She will gather up her courage to meow about what happened on her next garden post...but it won't be easy.

Dad went door to door and found where the offending woofie lives and he talked to the humans.  Mom has also filed a report with Animal Control.   Our hero dad is also fixing places where little woofies can get under the fence and into OUR garden.

The woofie WILL NOT get away with it.

All I can say is that the real hero in this whole thing is our Grete! If she had not barked to alert mom ::shudder:: I don't want to think about what would have happened.

Pee ess...Jonesie could use your purrs.  She is still very emotionally traumatized by what happened so could use your support.  Once the garden is secured, we are not sure she will feel safe going outside.

We think it's the humans who this woofie lives with who should be in trouble. The silly woofie was just doing what comes naturally. We're SO glad Grete sounded the alarm. xoxo

That is awful! Poor Jonesie - I am glad she was not injured. But yeah, those humans who own that dog should be in lots of trouble! I will purr lots for Jonesie to recover from her trauma. She should not fear going somewhere she loves so much.

Oh, poor Jonesie, attacked in her own garden! That's just not right. The humans who own the woofie should be more careful about letting him roam the neighbourhood.

Purrs to Jonesie to recover from her traumtic experience soonest.

How very upsetting on so many levels. I hope those people will be very vigilent and not let the woofie out on his own. Poor Jonesie: and hooray for heroine Grete. And Mom saved the whole situation.

Many many purrs.

What a terrible, terrible thing to have happened to sweet Jonesie. We think a huge fine should be slapped on the owner of the terrier. Unfortunately, terriers, especially JRTs, are known to chase cats on pure instinct, and it is up to their owners to make sure they do not endanger anyone else.

We are sending huge purrs and crossing all our paws that Jonesie will once again feel safe in her beloved garden. And huge kudos to brave Grete!

Purrs,

Oh. My. Cod. That's awful, we are SO sorry Jonesie was attacked -- and in her garden. We ARE thankful she wasn't physically injured. We don't know if the woofie's humans were negligent or if the dog got out by accident, but we hope your garden truly is secure now and that the woofie's beans will be more attentive.

Purrs and universal Light to Jonesie, we do hope that in time she'll recover and feel safe outside again.

Hugs and kitty kisses.

What a horrible thing to happen!! Poor sweet Jonesie, just walking around her safe space. What a horrid little pooch! It is a good thing Jonesie still had her claws and that there was a sizeable tree around. We will be purring for her.

Good Dog, Grete!!!!

That's horrible! Poor Jonesie!!!

The owners of that woofie should get in big trouble for this. We will purr and pray for our pal Jonesie, that she will recover from the horror of this incident. Thank COD for Grete!

O noes! Poor Jonesie! Yes, how traumatic.

I was wondering how the woofie got in. I hope Dad's fixes will prevent this from happening again.

However, the owner should not let his dog roam free.

The same thing happened to Dante a few years ago. I keep him on a leash in the front yard, and a woofie from a few doors down was loose and ran after him. How ironic, eh?

Dante was right next to a tree, so he did like Jonesie and made it up there in no time flat.

It's the fault of irresponsible pet owners. I had a talk with our neighbours, too.

We're purring for Jonesie to feel safe and secure again soon. It's not the kind of thing you expect in your own back yard.

Oh Jonesie!!You must have been so scared! I shall purr to make you feel safe and secure again!

Jonesie, it's me...Ellwood....considering that what happened to you happened because of one of my 'kind' was involved, I want to step up to the plate and make a comment: from the bottom of my PARSON Russell Terror/Terrier heart, I want to apologise for what that horrible, horrible little doggie did to you. I just want you to know that I would never do that. I do have to be honest and say that I am not above chasing a cat, but I would never hurt one. Do know that I am not a Jack Russell, but a Parson Russell...we are ABOVE those Jacks (because we have longer legs) but sadly we do share the same instincts. My Mom is always telling me to leave kitties (cats) alone if I see one when we are walking...but I just can't resist the urge to chase them, honestly though, I don't think I would do anything if I caught up to one. Afterall, you know I live with Lolo and Tiny and those two have never hurt me, but they do keep me in my place with various odd airy noises that they can so amazingly produce...they also have this deep kind of roar that they talk to me with and though I can't really figure out WHAT they are saying, I have come to the conclusion that it has something to do with me leaving them alone. I'm glad you have Grete and if I were you Mom, I would send Grete after that little ratty Terror next time...I bet it would be gone in a flash if it saw Grete!! I think I would be!! Jonesie, from all of us...me, Lautrec and Tiny...we send you lots of love, licks and purrs. Don't let that dang dawg ruin your love of the garden...IT IS YOUR GARDEN, NOT HIS...GO OUT THERE AND SHOW THE WORLD WHO IS BOSS!!!
