Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::3 paw taps::

Welcome back to my garden.  The work is starting to really pick up around here. After a very slow start to spring, with cold temperatures and never ending rain, we finally got a break this past weekend.  It even warmed up into the low 60's!

Dad had a big project going and he needed my help.  He wanted to put some sod over a patch of non-grass that was just weeds and stuff.  I tried to help him figure out exactly how much sod to buy, but for some reason he didn't listen to me.
He dug out the area and put the rolls of sod nearby.  Once down he asked that I paw over it to make sure it was all patted down nice and firm.  That's an important step in the process and you don't want to miss it.

Once dad had the sod in, I walked the perimeter to show him that he messed up.  He didn't have quite enough sod.  He made some excuse about putting grass seed in the peat moss to "blend" it in with the existing grass.  I'm not sure I agree with this plan.

We'll have to see in a couple of weeks how it all works out.  Baby grass might be fun to watch grow.

I have so many other parts of the garden to snoopervise that I really shouldn't concern myself with a few blades of grass.

Mom's favorite daisies are just starting to bloom!

The magnolia tree has blossoms just waiting to pop!

The wild bleeding heart is more purple this year.  Last year it was kind of pink.  Purple makes me purr.

Be sure to leave a link so all of our garden pals can visit you!

What a great job. Did you know that they are saying some areas around here might get some snow?!

Hi Jonesie! Yoor dad should have listened to yoo, for sure! Efurrybuddy can see there isn't enuff "sod".

BTW ... (tee hee)... I just thought I'd let yoo know that in the UK, although the term "sod" may be used to mean turf grown and cut specifically for the establishment of lawns, such material is more usually known as "turf". The reason being that the term "sod" is a NORTY word that is usually used in an offensive way to describe norty people. Example: He is a right sod!

I'm not usually allowed to swear but since I used "sod" as part of explanation into the use of English, Mom said it was OK. (Tee hee).

Yoor flowers are beautiful.

Love Alfie xx

What a lovely garden you have. You take such good care of it too. I'm sure all your supervising is what made it so.

Things are looking great in your garden, Jonesie! We're not sure about the grass seed versus sod, either. Couldn't your dad have sown catnip seeds? Because you can never have too much catnip!

Is that a Saucer Magnolia, Jonesie? We have 2 of them and they are spectacular in years when they bloom. Every few years (like this year) a late frost kills the buds!

Compared to our garden, yours looks so LUSH! All the green everywhere. Baby grass is so tasty, you are going to have a lot to eat, like a cow or something!

Do you need some more dirt-trampling Cats? Cuz we'd be happy to help!
