Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

The weather is getting a bit nippy and I thought it would be a good day to sit in my fig tree and reflect on the past summer. There is not much to do today because most of the vegetables have been harvested and mom and dad aren't ready to pull everything up yet. Dad is mowing the lawn so the tree makes a good place to sit and snoopervise. I'm thinking it's a good day to remember my flowers. I don't pay too much attention to them because I'm focusing so much on the garden veggies, but now they are gone, I miss them a lot. I miss my sunflowers.
The sunflowers got so tall I thought they would touch the sky.

I miss my dahlias. There are still a few hanging on, but they don't look this nice anymore.

I miss my buddlia blossoms and their good friends the butterflies.

Until next summer.
Now that it's getting dark earlier, I have to come in the house earlier too. So not fair. I make up for this by letting my mom and dad chase me ALL over the yard to try and catch me. It's all just a game. I have no intention of staying out at night. I just wait until the right moment, after they chase me around enough and I've had my fill. At that moment and not one moment sooner, I flop to the ground and expose my floofy belly. Then I allow them to pick me up and carry me in.
Please be sure to go visit my good friend and garden buddy Alfie Marshall so see what he's up to in his garden this week. Also, I have new garden friends I just met this past week and I'd love for you all to go visit them. They are Helen, Darcy and Bingley at Purrfect Haven. I also have something special I'll be presenting to everyone in the next week. I was going to do it today but mom was slacking and couldn't help me. I'm really excited about it so mom better get with the program quick.

Now is the time for you to rest after all your hard work during the summer. We enjoyed your re-cap of all your hard work. We can see you really have a green paw.

Oh jonesie you have such a beautiful garden! I must admit I'm pretty jealous of your tree...I wish I had something like that in my yard...I know what you mean about going inside earlier...it stinks, when my humans come to get me I hide amongst the bushes but I always come back. I know they are just worried about me being out at night, but I'm a big bad cat what could happen?
Ashley: Plenty gangan! We gotta play it safe! Lovely Garden Jonesie!

Yes, the old I am not coming in game. The beans fall for it every time. It's rather amusing to watch them stumble around trying to catch a cat as if they could. Don't know about your beans but ours are very slow. ~S,S,C & F

Your flowers were so purrty. Our Mom even killed our catnip - she's got a black thumb. Some nasty white bugs got it and deaded it.

Your dahlias are beautiful. They are mum's favourite flower. You really are a master gardener:) We helped our mum in the garden today. The only things flourishing are the weeds. MOL!

There is always something a little sad about the arrival of the cold weather and the prospect of time spent indoors rather than outdoors. We make up for it with indoor games and lots and lots of cuddles and naps!

Your flowers were very pretty. It's a shame that they are gone, but they will come back next summer.

You had some really pretty flowers Jonesie. We had to laugh about you running all around not wanting to go in 'cuz I do that sometimes! Momma tricks Alice by telling her to "come look at this" and rolls a rock or something on the ground....then nabs her!

Enjoy the outside while you can. At my place there was some white stuff falling from the sky. The mom wasn't happy about it I can tell you that.

Oh yes, Jonesie, it's hard not to be nostalgic at this time of year. At least your mama took lots of nice pictures so you can remember your flowers, always!

Ha, ha! It sounds like you've really got the beans running circles 'round you! Way to go!

Jonesie, your garden is beautiful. And your spot on that fig tree looks absolutely perfect. It's getting colder here too. Once the sun goes down I head upstairs to curl up inside the down comforter.

Those are such pretty flowers - I can see why you miss them. I guess that is how it goes though, winter comes and the flowers go but then there is snow and fun holiday stuff so it is all good.
