I bet you thought that I had forgotten about all of you, loyal members of the Society of Feline Gardeners. I apologize for my lack of posting. I'd like to blame my secretary mom but I have to admit I've been slacking a bit myself.
It's been raining and damp, and as I get older, I'm more likely to hit up the fleece blankets indoors vs. brave the mud.
My furs get a little wild too in the damp air.
As you can see, my Rhododendrons are blooming.
Figgy and I are getting impatient because the garden beds are still empty. Mom and dad say it's because the seeds will rot if we plant them...or they might even wash away. Mom promises no matter what, we will plant no later than Memorial Day weekend. This makes me purrrr.
In the meantime, I can snoopervise the perennials that are already here. The chives are blooming and looking pretty. I don't eat them but mom does. We lost a few plants over the winter. All of our artichoke plants did not make it through the hard freeze. We also lost our olive tree.
Our red climbing rose super fragrant. They drop down low enough that mom and dad can smell them easily. If I'm close by, I get picked up for a sniff too!

Oh bummer about your olive tree. We lost our artichoke too but we are a bit farther north so the woman was kinda worried about it in general. Oh well. It was good while it was here!
How sad that you lost your olive tree and artichokes, Jonesie! But I am sure you'll have some really awesome things growing later in the season!
Losing botanical friends hurts but at least it's a blooming time. We post are garden pics mostly at our other blog, Boomer Muse.
Its been rainy here too. We unnerstand how difficult it gets.
I sincerely hope your rosebush isn't as vicious as mine. ~Scylla
We have been getting lots of rain and flooding here too. We are so sorry you lost your olive tree, the frost got some of our stuffs too. We had a much colder and longer winter then usual.
Jonesie we're battling BUGS ... especially slugs. It's awful. Mom tried the nice eco friendly way ... beer traps first. For about a week she did that and all she got was more slugs. She felt like the neon sign was out BAR OPEN and boy they sent all of their fellow slugs the notice to keep on coming. So Mom had to resort to chemicals. NO animals or pets are in the our yard. So that seems to have removed about 98%.Now it's grasshoppers and worms. and still a few slugs. UGH
We're so glad to hear that you're back to supervising the garden, Jonesie, and that your trusted assistant, Figgy, is by your side.
Purrs,

Hey Jonesie! It's great to see you in the garden again. It's been raining lots here too. Your flowers look very pretty despite all the rain.
It's so irritating to lose plants, trees, or shrubs over the winter! I suspect your pawrents will find something to replace those missing. We think your roses are gorgeous!
We're very sorry to hear about your artichokes and olive tree, Jonesie. It sounds like you have lots of things growing in your garden, though. :)
Your garden is always amazing Jonesie. I'm growing Chives too and mine are flowering ~ the Bees love them.
