Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Pardon me...the smells in the garden are so intoxicating this time of year I can hardly stand it.  Spring is here already...I can smell it!   Even though my mom and dad are slackers and there are weeds everywhere, I'm still overjoyed.  I'm thankful for my garden and my furriends.
While I sniff the spring garden smells, I want to take a moment to remember one of the most amazing garden cats in the world.  My furriend and Society of Feline Gardeners member, Eric.

I have always admired Eric and his brother Flynn...for their skills way above what the normal garden cat must do.  He was a farmer!  I think every time my mom saw him in a flower pot she swooned.  So did I.

Eric left us suddenly this past week, off to The Rainbow  Bridge.  I hope my beloved guardian angels were all there waiting for him to show him around.

Eric, I hope you are watching over us as we wander the garden today.

Cecilia discovered a few of the daffodils that are daffing already!  There are a few early ones...the larger patch we have are not  yet blooming.

When the tree guys were here last week, they took out a few limbs from my beloved weeping willow tree.  A few of the large branches needed to come down.   I'm inspecting the wood since it will be wonderful in our outdoor fire pit.   I can see myself warming my paws!

The winter Daphne is blooming.   It is so fragrant...I love it!

The Andromeda bush is covered in little white flowers.

Even our rosemary bush is blooming!

And...contrary to what Ginger told you about on Tuesday...he is NOT a help to me.  Yes he paws around the garden, but he spends most of his time sleeping on the deck.

It's true.

You are among new garlic shoots in that first picture, right?

We can't believe you have green stuff and flowers! We have finally seen some daffodils around the complex sign.

If he's sleeping on the deck he's helping--right? Think of all the trouble he could be causing!

That was a nice tribute to Eric. He was an extraordinary cat gardener, wasn't he?

Jonesie, you must be SO excited right now - at this time of year, the garden is so full of potential!

Our (one) daffodil plant's flowers have already come and gone. Eventually I'll have a report on how my nip plant is doing - my human saw a neighbor cat STEALING some the other day!

Eric was a very special garden cat, and I already miss him very much.

Those are lovely flowers. Honestly, i haven't seen one yet. I haven't walked on grass too. Must be fun, huh? I'm an indoor kitty. I haven't tried all those yet because we live in the city. I can only see buildings. Momma takes me out the balcony in the morning to do some bird watching. Hardly have any birds around.

Jonesie, #1 is very envious of your blooming winter Daphne. She loves the scent which she first discovered in japan, but ours hasn't bloomed these past two years.

Jonesie, would you send some of those spring smells our way?? It's still cold and there's talk of more of that s stuff. We're so tired of winter.

And we will miss Eric too. The mom says her favorite memory of him is him and Flynn laying in their flower pots. He was quite the cat.

We will live through your garden for now Jonesie, ours is still deep under the white.

Thank you for the special words about Eric, we will think of him when we go to the garden in summer.

Could we please come to stay with you till oh, about May? We're under a blanket of snow and everything is icy and frozen. It's dismal and depressing. Please, please send Spring.

DAPHNE! The Human a-members daphne from when she was a little girl. She says it smells "divine" but since I am an inside kitty I dunno.

Jonesie, you are the most beautifulest Garden Kitty ever. Sorry that slacker Boy just naps on the deck and doesn't help. Cecilia looks more alert!

The flowers in your garden are beautiful! Mommy thinks the sight of a sleeping cat is one of the most serene and relaxing sights to behold, so maybe Ginger sleeping on the deck is actually helpful and therapeutic for the plants in the garden...or maybe it just keeps him out of trouble.
