Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday In The Garden With Jonesie

Oh yeah!  It's cold.  It's freezing.  But the sunbeams are out and so am I!  You might have to biggify, but I'm out here in the garden checking on the handiwork of my humans who have been clearing out the beds.  Not that all of them are done yet.  There is still work to be done before we start with cool weather vegetables in March.  It was great to get out in the garden this past weekend.  It's been way too long.

I even found some fresh nip clinging to life in the raised vegetable bed.  Good thing this bed was not cleared out yet.  Clearly, it's still producing.  Without me to check on the finer points of the garden...who knows what might have happened to it.  Since it's discovery, Figaro and Cecilia have both taken their turns rolling in it.

My little garden door is still working well.  I had to go in and out a few times just because I could.

Figaro and Cecilia helped a bit, but mostly they wanted to hunt birdies and squirrels because Dad put out a fresh batch of bait food for them.

I didn't stay out for very long because the temperatures were in the 20's over night and only in the low 30's during the day on Saturday and Sunday.
So you know where you'll find me!

Keep warm, efurryone! Your parents are so hard working. My SS is definitely slack. Just take a look at the weeds in my garden. Disgusting!

Looks like you have some helpers in your garden, Jonesie. There is a pest in our garden, chewing away at our Pansies and English Bells. ugh!

That is nice about the nip still growing. Stay warm, sweet Jonesie, and tell Cecelia and Figaro not to stay out too long!

Jonesie, I just know your garden is HUGE !!!!!!!!! Lots of space to run and explore !

My mom just put catnip on the ground two day ago and after she saw your nip. She just wonder what's season the nip grow best ?

Because now we got Summer but it's not really hot. The weather is quite like Spring. Today my nip lost a lot of leave. We are not really sure, it's going to survive. Do we should put in direct sun ? ( That's what she did ) .

Mom tried to safe it because it's really hard in Australia to find the nip if you not buy cat toys. They didn't have dry one in the big bag like you guys.

Actually my mom went back to the shop again to get more but they didn't have it anymore.

We just got one last nip to grow. I hope you can ask your mom for us.

Thank You
xxxxx

Your humans are still working on the garden while I've heard that other cats' humans are slacking off a bit! I think it comes down to your excellent supervision, Jonesie!

We think it's great you still have some nip in your garden! Our little space is frozen and white now, and will be for a few months, we think. :-/

Excellent report Jonsie :-) What a joyful discovery to find catnip in the winter, what a hardy plant it must be! Nice to see you relaxing at the end and getting warm again.

Over here all the snow is melting and it's raining non stop. Weather forecast tells us there'll be even more rain this weekend. Yuck. It's great you got outside last weekend. Talking about nip - we should get that swap going soonish. We'll set mom onto it.
Purrs!

I'm so happy for you, Jonesie, that you were able to go check out your garden after all this time. And you had company, too!

Even if you weren't out there long, you were able to patrol your territory, and discover things that needed doing. After all, you're the snoopvisor -- it's up to others to do what you say.

Jonsie, we haven't done a garden post lately...our Mommy is LAME! We will do one next week, hopefully. We have a little nip struggling along through the cold, Daddy picks it for us when it gets enough leafs.

We are glad you got out in the garden for a while and found some nip still growing. Everything in our garden has gone nasty and black and slimy from the ice and frost. Our winters are usually a lot milder than this one and the plants aren't used to it. The bigger shrubs will be all right but mum doesn't think the newer ones will survive.

That is great that your soil is still workable. Ours is as hard as the floor!

But we got garden catalogs and TBT is planning the new gardens. At least there is the promise of starting stuff indoors next month!
