Miffed Mitten Monday

This past weekend was upsetting.  First off, dad went away for the weekend last Thursday and didn't come home until Sunday night.  He said it was for "work"...whatever.  We missed him!  And guess what?  Because mom had to also "work"...yeah, whatever...Grete woofie had to go to "doggie day care"!  She was kind of excited about it the first day, but she did NOT want to go and play with woofies the 2nd day.  She would rather be with her bestest pal in the whole wide world.  ME!

Grete was so mad, she wouldn't let mom get a picture of her...just the tail of disrespect!

Then on Saturday mom abandoned us to go to a cat show.  She took pictures of other kitties.  This kitty is the longest cat in the world!  That's pretty cool.  Even though I was a bit jealous, I think I would have liked him.

There were cat trees everywhere!

And more cat trees...

And toys everywhere!  Mom got to have dinner with Chey's mom who was volunteering with Purrfect Pals.  They had sweetheart homeless kitties at the show who were looking for their forever homes.  By the time mom left on Saturday, one sweetie boy was adopted!

We gave mom the sniff over when she got home and I quickly forgave her for not taking me along.  I don't like to ride in the car anyway!  And no toys for us...mom has another destination for the goodies she picked up at the show!

Society of Feline Gardeners-Thursday In The Garden With Figaro

::purrr::

Hi there garden pals!  Jonesie gave me the go ahead to say the super secret password and get this meeting started.

We finally got several days in a row of dry weather, so I've been pawing around and checking stuff out.  The garden cart is on it's side for the winter so we can't climb in it and play haul stuff around.

Our next door neighbor, Remington, pals around with me a lot.  He is responsible for the garden next door.  We swap advice and stuff.

Jonesie has advised me that part of being a garden cat is posing handsomely in front of work that still needs to be done.  Can you believe that mom and dad still have not pulled up these dead corn stalks?  Mom thinks they are cool for photo ops, but I think she's just being lazy.

The grape arbor was trimmed up in preparation for spring.

Do you ever get the feeling you are being watched?

The garden bed that last week was such a mess has now been mostly cleaned out.  This is the hardest job a gardencat must perform...making sure your humans are doing their fair share of the work.

So where you may ask is Jonesie this week? She is still enjoying her vacation from gardening.  She is sleeping and growing her neck floof back.  Mom and dad are still fighting the fleas but for the most part they are winning the battle and Jonesie is healing up.  Thing is...I think she likes knowing that she no longer has to do it all, so she's soaking up lap time waiting for it warm up and dry out.

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

Mom and dad got so sappy about a video they took of Ellie and Cory on the first day they arrived in this house back in 2006. They made us suffer through watching again.  I mean Ellie and Cory liked it.  Mom and dad liked it.  You should have heard them fuss.

It was enough to make me wanna hack up a hairball.  I mean, I didn't even live here yet.  Did they take endless video of me on my first days here?

NO!

The biggest news of the past week is that mom was finding dad's socks on the kitchen counter.  She couldn't figure out why he would leave his socks there.  That was...until she heard the singing.

I actually caught little Cory, all 8 pounds of her, leaping up to the counter with a giant sock in her mouth.  Singing her heart out the whole time.

And did mom get mad?  NO!

She just made more of a fuss over the little whippersnapper.

It's time I came up with a signature move of my own.  But what?  It seems that exposing my belly isn't quite enough to keep me out of trouble.

Mitten Monday

Over the weekend, mom and dad were looking at video from when I first arrived.  It showed me and my momma Ellie on our 2nd day in our new home.  We were playing and stuff and I was so small I hardly recognized myself.  Whoa I was cute!  Mom is going to try and figure out a way to edit down the hour long video so all of my furriends can see it too.

One thing that was funny is that dad was talking on the video about not knowing who my momma was and that Ellie "adopted" me.  See, when we were found and brought into foster care, there were 6 of us kittens.  4 kittens a couple of weeks older than me, and then me and my brother.  The rescuers assumed the 4 older kittens were my mom's and us younger tots probably belonged to another momma who did not survive.  My momma Ellie is a hero no matter what.  But when it turned out that once my momma Ellie and I were adopted together, I ended up nursing until I was almost 5 months old.   That and the fact that my momma Ellie and I look exactly alike except for fur color.  Mom said it's obvious Ellie is my one and true mom and she is a saint for nursing those other 4 kits.  We purr every day that their lives are as happy and loving as our own.
So I'm showing my choppers to tell you how I feel about what daddy said almost 5 years ago.

Pee Ess...my furriends wanted to know why it's Mitten Monday when there are no mittens in the photo.

I'm the Mitten!  That's what mom and dad call me all the time.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday (not) In the Garden With Jonesie

::purrr::

I know, here I am...Master Gardencat, asleep on my daddy's lap.  It really is the best place to be when the weather is a soggy mess.   I may look like I'm slackin' but this gardencat had been super busy!  Yes, gardencats don't even have to go outside to get a lot done.

While it's been raining so much we don't even want to spend time on the deck, I've been thinking about how I could combine my garden talents and help out United Paws, the wonderful people who saved Ellie and Cory from homelessness ::shudder:: or worse!

Then I found out that Raymond and Busby's momma got a job at Renee's Garden.  Turns out they have lots of cool seeds and because I wanted to indirectly keep Raymond and Busby in catnip and kitty litter, I decided I'd order my seeds through them this year.   But wait...what does this have to do with United Paws (I know my smart furriends want to know the answer)?

Turns out that Renee's Garden is such a cool company that they have a fundraising program.  Since my mom is a volunteer for United Paws (she helps manage their Facebook page), she signed them up.   So if you go to Renee's Garden website and order seeds, at the check out you'll be asked for a coupon code.  If you type in:

FR227A

United Paws will receive 25% of the total order value!  That is so totally awesome that I'm going to make my mom order me lots of seeds.  I sure hope some of you kitties do the same because that would mean extra dollars to a great organization that provides much needed spay/neuter, foster care and feral cat colony support in a county without a cat shelter.

So you can see that once my mom and dad ::cough:: finish cleaning out the beds, we'll have lots of room to plant our new seeds.  I'm going to sit by the fire and figure out my final order.

Please leave a link and let me know if you are able to get out in your gardens this week!

Paw It Forward- Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

So Cory started to fill you in on what's been going on here.  See, turns out our furriends treat us better than our very own mom and dad.   The only thing stopping us from reporting them to the ASPCA is that we still love them.  Even with all their faults and failings.   It started out before Christmas.  We got a box in the mail (which was not Christmas presents AT ALL!) and mom wouldn't let us open until Christmas.  It was clearly for "Paw it Forward", but mom said we had ::gasp:: plenty of toys and we could ::shudder:: wait.

When we finally got to open the box, it was from our furriends Ernie and Wally and Zoey, The Island Cats!
Ellie was beside herself with joy, and rubbed on their letter before diving into the box filled with amazing goodies!

There were treats and toys and a blankie sprinkled with  nip!

Ellie zeroed in on her most favorite toy in the world.  Foam soccer balls!  She carries them around and meows and drops them down the stairs and plays fetch with herself.  She is easily amused.

Cory helped mom discover our magnet that states we are official Honorary Island Cats.  Whoa.  We don't even live on an island.  Is that legal?

Mom found a cube that was stuffed in a little box.  It popped open right away and since we have been deprived cats (yes our mom has NEVER bought us one of these) we didn't know what to do with it at first.  Mom put our toys in there to give us a hint.

Ellie jumped right in.

So did Figaro.
So did everyone.
It's so popular, that one of us is always in it.

Bennette saw an opportunity when everyone was preoccupied with the cube...she snagged the blankie for herself.  She's a smart one.
Our thoughtful furriends didn't forget Grete woofie.  She got a beautiful girlie toy and a yummy biscuit.

She gave the biscuit a lick...and within 2 minutes of this photo being taken, Grete ate it all.  She loved it!

Yowsa!  Now that was fun.
Thank you Ernie, Wally and Zoey...and the yellow haired lady!

Okay, now it’s our turn to have fun pawing it forward. We’re looking for one cat or dog blogger that comment here saying you wanna participate in Paw It Forward. We’ll send you something fun, inspiring or uplifting. In turn, you’ll post about this on your blog, link to us, and then send something to up to three cat or dog bloggers that sign up to play along with you. There’re no cost restraints, BUT don’t go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. Maybe something unique from where you live? And, remember that kindness doesn’t have to involve money; there’re a lot of ways to help others every single day, everywhere you go. Keep the fun going and let us know if you wanna Paw It Forward!!!

Mitten Monday

Cory here, reporting from my new cube!  I think it's totally pawsome and all of us kitties fight over it and play King/Queen of the cube.  We've never ever had one before even though we've seen lots of our furriends with them.  Did mom buy it for us?

NO!

We had to rely on the love of our CB furriends Pawing it Forward to us.  Mom and Dad get a big fat "F".

Well, maybe a D-, mom still hand feeds me cheese.  Oh yeah and the dirty socks she gives me...maybe a C+.   All these things will be taken into consideration when we start to write our annual purrfurmance reviews.

We are recommending an A+ to the mom and dad who helped their totally cool kitties send us a Paw it Forward box.  Tune in tomorrow to see who it is!
