Momma Meezer Monday Book Review

I was thrilled when I was contacted by the publisher of Dewey Readmore Books' newest book.  Not that Dewey himself wrote it because sadly he passed away in November of 2006.  His mom Vicki Myron co-authored it with Bret Witter.  They wanted me to review it.  Being the mom around here I purred at the opportunity.

Not that I could read it myself, but I knew that it meant lots of quality lap time while our mom read it to us.  I especially wanted my daughter Cory to hear the stories.  Both of us adored the first book.  We loved it because Dewey was a cat, like us, who was abandoned, but found a great life in spite of his rough beginning.

This book included more about Dewey.  It also included stories of other wonderful and amazing kittens and cats that touched the lives of readers who loved Dewey.  I like to think that each of us cats is special.  Each one of us touches the lives of the people who love us.  We form relationships and bonds that transform each other.  This book has 9 chapters, 2 of which focus on Dewey and 7 that feature cats who will be new to you.  I loved each and everyone of them.  They all made me purr.

Cory, what did you think?

I loved that mom kept reminding us of our own stories.  All of the kittens and cats featured in the book just scratch (hey I like to scratch) the surface of the millions of stories that we know are out there.  So as she read to us, we meowed and purred about our own stories.

And now we get to share this book with others.  The publisher is going to send a copy of Dewey's Nine Lives to the winner of our drawing.  All you have to do is leave a comment saying that you want to enter.  I will limit it to those kitties and woofies who blog.  In addition, the publisher will only ship to the US and Canada.  So because of that, guess what we're going to do?

Yes, because we adore our readers in other countries, we will select 2 winners.  One winner in the US and Canada who will get the book from the publisher and another winner who can't be from the US and Canada (how's that for a change up?!) who will receive the very gently used copy of the book from us.  We'll even leave a few of our furs inside!

So leave a comment on this post and we'll let you know who the 2 winners are by Friday, ok?

  6. I came by to tell you how much I like your blog. I found it from Miss Kitty Van Dyck's blog. I follow her adventures and so does Bleubeard who I share the blog with. Actually, I am an artist and I post more art than cat stories. But lately, Bleubeard has also had several posts.

I wanted you to know that I feature a blog each day on my blog and tomorrow (Oct 11), I will feature your blog. It's Bleubeard's day, so he actually got to pick the blog.

We were both impressed by the number of cats (and dogs) you have saved and brought into your home over the years. Your sidebar is testament to that. I have only opened my home to two cats in my life and they have both been spoiled beyond belief. I can't imagine having more than one at a time, although I have friends who seem to do well with two or three. Thank you for all you do in the cat (and dog) world. You are a true inspiration.

I'm afraid we don't qualify for your drawing because I am the only one who knows how to type in our family of two, but it's extra sweet of you to open this giveaway worldwide.

  14. Mom and I are glad you enjoyed the book. Mom read Dewey's first book about a year ago - it was a gift from her sister who lives overseas, but sent it via amazon. We would love to enter your drawing for a copy of the new book, and as a bonus from US we will send it on to Mom's sister after we have read it. She is the one who lost Flossie earlier this year - Flossie could have been a story in the book, as she was a cat who "found" her Mom and chose her.
