Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

I don't know about you, but we've been having tons of rain.  The weatherman said it's been the 3rd soggiest May ever!  You know what that means...

Yes!  Time to put on my pink slug stompers!

Even though it's been raining, the flowers are still blooming.  Our red poppies are so lovely.  We have only a  few of them.  Most of our poppies are pinky peach.

Mom and dad are still swooning over the artichokes I'm growing for them.  So far they have harvested 5 of them.  At last count there are 13 more growing, with little weensy new ones showing up all the time.

I purrsonnally don't see what they are so excited about.

As usual my helpers are not so helpful.  Figgy was way more interested in the birdies flying over his head.  And Ginger...well Ginger is Ginger.

They missed out on a special friend that came to visit me.  Isn't he beautiful?  Or she...I wasn't sure.

As you can see...the leaves above me have raindrops on them...we had so much wind and rain on Memorial Day that a big section of our filbert tree broke off.  The squirrels are going to be upset.  Mom got some pictures of it...but she told me they are still in the camera so I will have to wait until next week to show you.  I will have a purr with the squirrels so they know we will do what we can to save the rest of the tree.

Raindrops are not all bad...sometimes they are awesome because they bring rainbows.

Rainbows make me purr.

Tabbies and Tuxies and Tummies on Tuesday

Pfffftt!  That's what I got to say to any kitty who thinks they have a cuter belly than me!

Yeah...I know the world wants to rub my belly.  Kiss me.  Fuss over me.

Figaro...you photobomber you!  Go away!

You think you got the moves...and that adorable pink nose ridiculous obvious play for attention.

Bummer...now mom is taking YOUR photo.

Looks like I gotta share.  I  don't like it but in this case two tummies are cuter than one.

Is anyone else coming?

Holiday Monday

We're just hanging out today.  Enjoying an extra day with our mom who has the day off.

Maybe that will mean Fancy Feast in the middle of the day!

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back my garden furriends!

We have had tons of rain here.  Bucketing down.  Plus it's been cold. In the 40's in the morning.  It's May for cats sake!  My plants need a bit of warmth.

So do I.

I make do with a pile of cushions that are kept  on my bench to stay out of the rain.  Dad calls me the Princess and the Pea.

Some of my furriends asked about my artichokes.  They think I'm some sort of feline gardening wonder because my plant is producing tons of artichokes.  Mom and dad have already chowed down 3 of them and there are a dozen more on the plant.   How do I do it?

Well...the big secret is that I meowed at mom and dad to put in an artichoke plant as an experiment last summer.  The big plant you see behind me has been growing and growing since last year.  It produced nothing last year.  It survived the winter and kept growing.  Now it's gifting us with lovely artichokes!

Since I was so successful with this one plant...dad went to the garden center and bought me 5 more.  As you can see I got right to work purring over them so they too will be big and strong...but they won't produce anything for us for quite some time.  Maybe next year.

So if you have planted an artichoke, don't worry if it takes some time.

So...I have to show you my flowers.

The foxgloves are everywhere!

The peonies are blooming.  They always have little ants all over them.

The Jerusalem Sage is bursting with yellow.  I love it.

Hope you are enjoying your garden.  I am going to purr that it dries out for us soon.  Mom wants to help me plant my basil this weekend.

Wordy Wednesday- Tuxie Edition

Hi there everyone!  I thought I should ask mom for a day on the blog to update you on how I'm doing.

As most of you know, I was diagnosed with pancreatitis.  I was losing weight and I was throwing up a lot.  Mom and dad were worried about me.

I had a blood test that confirmed my diagnosis and I was put on medication.  The good part is that the vet thinks I should get my Fancy Feast whenever I want it.

So...I've been VERY good about taking my pills.  There were a few days when mom went out of town and dad was left to pill me.  I had him convinced that I'm all claws and Tuxietude...but mom let him know that I was just yanking his chain.  Because I could.

I'd never pull that stuff on mom.  Nope...take my pills like a good girl.

So I have not gone in to the vet for an official weight, but mom got on the scale with me...then without me.

I have gained a whole pound!  I'm up to 7 pounds now.

Wanna rub my belly?

Happy Gotcha Day Grete!

Happy Gotcha Day to me!!!!   I love the graphic that the Zoolatry girls made for me a long time ago...before Figaro joined our family.   I will imagine the hat on my head has his name on it.

I came to my family 5 years ago today.

Some of you know the story...I was at Animal  Control...I was a stray...and that was not the first time I had been on my own.   I have a long and confusing story.

The most important part is that on May 21st 2008, mom was looking on Petfinder.com.  She saw my picture and my story and she told dad and they hopped in the car right away to come meet me.  Doggies at Animal Control are adopted out first come first served.

I was lucky mom was fast...they got there shortly after they opened for the day.   There I was in this concrete kennel.  It was horrible.

But I liked mom and dad from the start.  I knew I would love them.

So...below are photos of me on the day I came home.   My squeaky possum is my very first toy.

I'm a lucky girl.

Check out my interview at Savannah's Paw Tracks for more detail about my rescue and adjustment to life in my home.

Mitten and Momma Monday- Our Gotcha Day!

Momma...did you know that it was our Gotcha Day on Sunday?

Yes, dear Cory, I would never forget.  Mom and dad didn't forget either.   They fussed and told us how they can't believe it's been 7 years since we came into their lives.   They said we made everything better.  Just by being us.

Of course mom pulled out our Gotcha Day pictures.  I remember being so comfortable when we arrived that we just settled into the couch for a nice nursing session.  Silly Cory, you nursed until you were 5 months old.

I can't believe I was that tiny.  You know if I could get away with it, I'd still nurse.

purrrrrr

Mother and daughter.  Together forever.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::

Welcome back to my garden!  One of the most exciting happenings of the past week was having my good furriend Chey stop by.  I was able to give her the full garden tour.

After warning her about Figaro, we strolled the grounds.

My artichokes are growing fast!  Do you know that Mom and Dad harvested one already and there are 10 more on the plant?  I have to purr extra hard to make sure they stay strong and healthy.

Our fragrant climbing rose had roses that almost reach the ground.  I can sniff them myself without an assist.

When I sit in my garden I know that I'm a part of something very special.
