Meow! I'm so busy in the garden I can hardly keep up! I'm so glad that I have Figaro to help, although he's still just a kitten and there is only so much he can do. I was super upset to find that my apple tree lost a big branch! It could have fallen on my furry little head!
At first I wanted to sit on the bench and pretend it didn't really happen.
But then I thought I needed to help my dad and point out to him what happened. He needed me to purr for the branch and to consult on what to do next.
Dad got out his chainsaw, while I hid under a bush. When he was done I think it looked pretty good. I am sad for all the little baby apples that won't get to grow up, but at least there are still some on the tree.
Figaro did not help at all with the tree, but he did show up for some weeding. He needs to stick with me if he's going to grow up to be a stellar garden cat.
You got to stick close to make sure your humans get all the weeds out.
You also can't turn your back on kittens. All they want to do is play and chase butterflies. Figaro seems so unconcerned about the weeds that are all around him. Sigh. He has a lot to learn.
The best thing in the garden this week is our day lilies! They are beautiful and they make me purrr.

What happened to the branch? Was there a storm?
Not much is happening in my garden except that the oranges are ripening and we can start picking them soon.
WOW! That branch was HUGE! I'm very glad it didn't hurty yoo or anybuddy else! Good job yoo snoopervised yoor dad fixing it.
Figaro is in safe paws wiv yoo as a teecher Jonesie. He reminds me of me in my early gardening days when I used to mess around and not take things seriously. Then I started to get fascinated by stuff growing ~ and voila! Yoo are the best teecher in the werld Jonesie!
PS: That was me ~ I forgotted to sign my name!
Love Alfie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Your garden is so interesting. That branch could have been very dangerous, lucky no one was hurt. Figaro has a lot to learn from you.

I never see an apple tree in my life!! Never knew it was huge!
did you get to keep the branch as a scratch post? Nice to see you have a helper - even if he needs a bit of training.
That's a shame about the branch, presume there was a storm. Can your dad cut it up and let it dry for firewood? Or maybe an artist can use to make a wood sculpture?
It'll take a while for Apprentice Figaro to settle down; as you said, he's only a kitten, really. He'll be fantastic, Jonesie, because he has you as Master...Mistress. :-)
thank goodness for you, where would the garden arrangements be without you as role model! That branch sounded dangerous. We love Day Lillies too and ours are in bud but none out yet. Love Darcy and Bingley xx
Oh no! Your poor apple tree! Momma says she always gets very sad when a mature tree suffers a major limb break like that, so that makes us very sad.
Ummm... we all like to chase butterflies, Jonesie. Maybe we are still kittens at heart!
PS. Hi, Cory! xo
Your garden is looking lovely! We're glad your apprentice is at least starting to help you out, and we're sure when Figaro has matured, he'll be a wonderful gardener.
What a big apple tree, it looks as if it was a very old tree it was so huge.
The Day Lilies made us purr too.
You will get Figaro into shape in no time! But we bet right now he's still getting used to all the good things he has.
Your poor tree! And it looks like such a great tree for climbing. We're glad that you and your Dad helped it and we're sure it will be OK.
Your garden is looking lovely. We've got some weeds too, but we're battling them back slowly but surely. Love the lilies!
Wow! That was a big branch!! Good thing it didn't fall on anycat!! We're happy to see Figaro helping out in the garden...well, kinda helping out!
Your day lily is very beautiful. How sad your apple tree had to lose a limb, but the rest of he tree will be stronger now. Chain saws are a bit scary.
It is interesting to see pictures of Figaro from behind, because he has more black fur than I expected. He is going to develop into a great gardener over time, Jonesie. He just lacks maturity.
We're sorry about the apple tree (but glad no one was hurt!), but our human says they respond very well to pruning. And we love all the photos today - especially the ones of you! Your daylilies are gorgeous.
Purrs from Franklin and the Mishkat cats
Give him time Jonesie. He's just a baby.
Jonesie, we think you are a little bit like Mr. Miyago and Figaro is a little bit like the Karate Kid. Except instead of karate chops he grass chomps. Hahaha!
OMC! What happened to your poor apple tree?
It is good of you to take Figaro under your guidence
P.S. We are very surprised that it is going to be 100 degrees there - that is SO hot for Portland. The humans said they flew into Portland late one night during a heat wave and saw so many families with young kids sitting outside at 2 AM because it was too hot to sleep inside their houses. So we are glad you have air conditioning!
Y'all are such good gardeners and you really enjoy your work & it shows too!
Sorry about your apple tree, Jonesie, but you did a great job watching the weeds and instructing your Dad about working in your garden...Glad you have a little help from Figaro too since you guys have a pretty big yard to tend to; we know you will train him well...Kisses and hugs beautiful garden girl!...Calle, Halle, Sukki
That is a big branch that fell! Your Lilies are gorgeous, we don't think we have ever seen them in that color before. Looks like Figaro has a lot to learn, but we know he has a great teacher. xoxo
Great snoopervising job, Jonesie......and we know you will get Figaro trained to be a great snoopervisor also. xxxxxxxxxxx
We kinda think the best thing in your garden is you!
You are teaching Figaro, Jonesie. I know it's hard with the little ones.
We are sorry for your baby apples too.
It is sad that your big apple tree lost a limb but it looks like your dad got it sorted.
We had some baby cherries that had a similar fate this year -

PeeEssWoo: Hi Grete!
You will have to go easy on Figaro - he has a lot to learn and he can't do it all at once! And let's face it, butterflies are hard to ignore!
It is great that Figaro is staying with you Jonesie. And what a neat fact that you actually know his parents. His momma is so beautiful! ALthough it will be a bit of work to train him as a Gardening Cat, we're sure it'll pay off triple in the end. Have a pawsome weekend one and all!

YOu have such a fabulous garden. We always love to see all the interesting things. And you do such a wonderful job snoopervising!
Happy Friday.

We are sorry about the apple tree, but it was a good decision ta hide while the branch off.
We think Figaro just thinks all the plants are good plants. He'll learn!
The day lily is bootiful...
That was a big branch! We are glad your dad cut it off before it could fall on you or Figaro.
You are a great teacher and snoopervisor, Jonesie. It's no wonder your garden looks so fabulous!
Sorry your apple tree is a little bit skinnier! At least no one got hurt.
Figaro looks so eager to learn all your wisdom!!
That is so scary about the tree and the big limb. I'm glad you are concerned about the weeds, I'm afraid I would be playing with Figaro!
Lovely to see Figaro and Jonesie out in the garden together again. That poor tree -- it must be quite old and very precious! I'm sure Jonesie will make sure it's properly preserved.
We're so glad you've got sweet Figaro to give you a paw in the garden, Jonesie!
